Paperback Adventures | Tutorial and Playthrough (KS prototype) | with Jason

Jason provides a preview playthrough for Paperback Adventures from Fowers Games. Paperback was a deckbuilding word game; Adventures builds on the concept and adds a roguelike dimension, defeating a progressive set of bosses and trying to make it out of your word dungeon alive!

Nice one Jason. Went all in on the KS and think it was the right decision as a I love Paperback. Seems like there are quite a few moving parts to have to remember which could be hard for my poor brain to cope with! lol

I actually gave this feedback to the designer, where it felt like the game gave you too much too soon. I think they are working on an intro mode where game pieces - items, macguffins, etc., come in much more slowly and organically. That should help.

This looks fun, but the price to get the base game and all of the characters on Kickstarter is a little rough in my opinion. $79 + $15 shipping is a lot.

Keep away from my words! But yeah, it'd be great to see a co-op mode, though I get that they are going for the roguelike feel and those are usually solo (at least in video games).

The idea is to eventually branch out and establish a 2 player coop mode. There is room in the design for that. We'll see how good it goes. I wouldn't want it higher than two.

The playtest version had two characters, this robot and a thief character, and I think it would likely not take too much work to make this a 2P coop game.
