Oh oh oh! How versatile is that dress kit? I love all of your blouses, but my FAVORITE is the pink roses with the black and white polka dot insert in the sleeves. If we "graduate" to a more intricate design I'd sure enjoy it if you would do a sewalong for that particular blouse design. It's cute cute cute!! Beautiful blouses Joy.

Love you Joy! My favorites are the V necks with the 3/4 sleeve because they're dual purpose, as a blouse or a layering piece type jacket. I sooo enjoy your videos. Talk about sewing or life I don't ever mind. You and your Jerry take good care, be well and be safe.

I know there’s Baileys in that coffee cup! Lol. That butterfly top is cute. I have all the Sure Fit Designs but haven’t made any blouses yet...just pull on pants. I am short and tunics look very unflattering on me. I need tops with shaping so I love the darts. I’m all psyched to start some tops now.

You just put an end to my greatest fear regarding investing in the Sure-Fit Designs Dress Kit: boredom! I was fearful that all my tops/blouses would look exactly alike. I can see now that by "hacking" your Sure-fit blueprint with other pattern design elements creates one-of-a-kind tops that fit like a dream every time! I kept wondering if there is a way to add some sort of collar? Very excited for this sew-along series!
@caroldean46914 жыл бұрын
Hi Joy-sorry if someone's asked already-can you give me an idea of the yardage for the short-sleeved version for the sew-along? I am guessing there's a facing, too, in addition to the front, back, and sleeves. So glad you are doing this, had the SF dress kit for a year and haven't tried it. You have inspired me to work along with you! Your blouses were all beautiful!

Joy, This was so much fun. I love all your blouses. You are talking buttons & I realized I have not ordered the button spacer gadget. I have a question about the 2nd blouse. The one with double buttons. Did you match up your fabric design? I think you did because your flower matches. That would be a good teaching point for us. So excited, but I have a "not pregnant belly" to challenge you to fit. Hugs & loves.

Joy, love your videos! You make it look so easy. I'm trying to find a video of yours that includes a collar and a neck as I'm trying to fix a blouse I started about 9 months ago. It was a pattern I bought but instructions were bad and I'm a newby. Any suggestion or do you remember if you've ever done a video on collars and necks.
@Joy4650B3 жыл бұрын
I have done collars a few times, but I hate them. I don't like them on me. Check out Karina at Lifting Pins and Needles on KZbin. Whitney also does a lot of collars. You can find her at Tomkat Stitchery. They both do LOTS of sewing tutorials.

Hi Joy - I know this video is a couple of months old, but I hope you will still see this comment. You showed us two tops where you added front and back yokes to a princess seam pattern as a copy of a Silhouette pattern. I've been wanting to make a top like that but don't know what to do about the princess seam lines in the yokes. How did you deal with them so that they're not in the yoke part? Thank you so much for all the information you share!

Could this be made without an opening in the front (no buttons)? I’ve seen tunic style shirts that are woven and don’t have a front opening. This style is very figure flattering.
@Joy4650B4 жыл бұрын
You will want to use the SHIRT KIT to make a pull over top. You could do it with the dress kit, but you would have to add ease and be sure you can get it on over your head. I like buttons and zippers.
@cleanqueen754 жыл бұрын
What about the Sure Fit sleeves? I have large biceps and short arms and always have a hard time getting sleeves to fit with the big four patterns.
@dianarip14 жыл бұрын
I enjoyed the "blouse parade", lol. I noticed that most have button holes horizontally and some were vertical. Which do you find works the best? Looking forward to the sew along.
@Joy4650B4 жыл бұрын
Vertical buttonholes allow the buttons to slide up and down and the top won't stay still. I like the horizontal buttonholes myself although Peggy Sagers says they are wrong. Her opinion.
@dianarip14 жыл бұрын
@@Joy4650B I had not thought about the sliding up and down. I'll do them horizontally with the sew along. I haven't worn a button up blouse in ages.
@phylliscampbell23253 жыл бұрын
Such beautiful blouses! Have a question for you. I have to put an awfully large bust dart in. I have had trouble making it look nice so I’ve always had to divide it between a shoulder dart and a side dart. Have you ever had trouble with the bust dart being too big?
@Joy4650B3 жыл бұрын
My friend Phylly has Dolly Parton boobs on a tiny body. She needs a huge dart too. She has actually made 2 side bust darts. Another great way is to do a french dart like Peggy Sagers does. The dart is much longer, so it doesn't look big.
@beverlydow82594 жыл бұрын
Left neck of butterfly blouse in your video seems like it is closer to your neck than the right side. Are they really uneven? All your blouses are beautiful.
@Joy4650B4 жыл бұрын
You have a keen eye my friend. One of my shoulders is a bit wider than the other. I don't fix that quirk however.
@phylliscampbell23253 жыл бұрын
I have found that I have to divide the bust dart because mine is too large. Do you ever have that problem?

I wasn't interested in the kit until you showed a v-neck short sleeved top. I don't like button downs, I don't do buttons. Could you possible show us buttonless dresses or tops you've sewn without buttons?

I used the SHIRT KIT to make those, and I do have a few.
