I was thinking of looking into paralegal work, and I’m so glad I clicked on this. “F* your boundaries” was candid and I appreciate it. Boundaries are way too important to me, to allow some lawyer to tell me that my weekend was just canceled. I feel like they should be important for everyone; everyone deserves their personal space and time. That was all I needed to hear to know that this is not for me. Thanks for your honesty😊

I see the point but I am glad I did the Paralegal associates because even though every law office is different, the law is the same and that is what I learned while in school.

Yes, schooling is very important, especially if we (the Paralegals) are going to be the answer to the justice gap.

My 1st job was a legal secretary in the estate planning/probate area for 3 years before transferring to the litigation (foreclosure, bankruptcy, divorce, real estate, commercial litigation areas) for 7 years. Then I moved to various law firms (commercial & civil litigation, asbestos, maritime law, malpractice, personal injury defense, environmental, etc.) Majority of the pleadings preparation, trial/ mediation prep, discovery documents, trial exhibits, court filings (efiled for USDC and Supreme Court) were done by us (legal secretaries). The Paralegals prepared privilege log, production of docs, bates stamping, answers discovery, legal research, etc.

This story is one in a million. A degree and 5+ years experience is the norm.

It's not for everyone. There are many people who love that area of law, and I'm thankful they do.
