A paramedic showcased the possibilities of using a 'Jet Suit' for a rapid ascent up a mountain in Romania to perform a mock rescue operation.
The demonstration was a collaboration between the Jet Suit developer, Gravity Industries, and Romania's Department for Emergency Situations. According to the company's website, there are only a handful of Jet Suit pilots in the world.

The ignorance in these comments is wild! This is amazing and will save untold lives. Media and reading comprehension are at an all time low and it shows. The title literally states this is a mock rescue, if you don't know what that means it means it's fake, like a training scenario to test the rescuers. The jetpack and the rescuers are very real. For all the incredibly smart people pointing out that the jetpack only carries one person: no one ever said the victim would be rescued by jetpack, that is not possible. This is for emergency medical personel to get in to an injured patient, after they have been located by searchers, and provide medical aid either until the helicopter can get them or to stabalize the patient for transport to rendevous with the chopper.

Thr concept isnt the problem its the device itself... its impractical for the user. And its unrealistic to believe it will ever be a safer less expensive alternative to helicopters. And how could the military makes this mess functional.... They do demos for the military with these as like some kind of advanced weapon system but you cant actually fight in it... They just have some dude flying the thing with a gun strapped to him and then he lands and aims it to look cool. Buts its ridiculous you cant move or take cover in it at all, it fails at all mid flight you die theres no safety just luck. Maybe in a few decades it could be refined for more practical use in mountain, urban or water rescues but right now it feel like this company is just using as way to reach into the pockets of easily sold investors and the American tax payer.

Disagreement with your opinion is not ignorance. In addition to what the person above me said, this doesn't demonstrate anything useful. He isn't carrying a first aid kit, let alone a whole trauma kit. I believe it takes multiple people to strap this jet pack on. In that same time they could be launching a helicopter with an entire crew. I think this device is only good for personal entertainment currently.

I would assume this is for people who are injured and he is a paramedic of some kind going to render medical aid until a helicopter can get there. I would think the jetpack could be used in conditions that a helicopter couldn't. Also maybe the packs can get them to areas where a helicopter can't go, they go in on packs and carry the victim to a rendezvous with the chopper.

Obv you can’t carry someone else’s weight with it. It’s still a rescue if they show up and provide medical attention. That’s what this is, say the “victim” is bleeding out, medic gets there faster, stabilizes victim so rescuers can have more time to extract victim. I’m sure further down the line we might have the ability to just grab and go, but that also has limits.

Watchers hear the engine start to spit and sputter then over the radio this conversation is heard... : Uh Dave, did you fill the fuel tank up? Dave's reply: Uhmm, I thought Tim was supposed to do it! Tim replies: Nope, nobody told me! Then you hear a prolonged, but fading crashing noise going down the cliff. Guess we should double check things like that huh!!

I know there are many native English speakers here.in my country, we learn English grammar in school. "Two and two ___ four (make)." The options are:makes,make.There is confusion between both option.
@TheMagicalSock

It would be make. Two and two, together, are two things, and things “make”. Things do not “makes”.

@@nikhilchandel2732 I am American. The Appalachian mountains. Your English is good, and lots of native speakers would use “make” and “makes” interchangeably in the example you gave, because even we aren’t good at English grammar. Haha.

This video and Technology has been out long enough to have built them, trained the flyers/Paramedics and deployed by now. What's the hold up? I thought they'd be out there quickly because it seems like a great idea for certain circumstances and areas, especially steep and rocky.
