Whenever I do this I am guaranteed to have my trousers around my ankles by the end :p

😂 that's definitely happened with certain pairs of trousers here too

It is very good. I did like you when I was younger. Now I have a stairlift. And two armchairs: one at the top and one at the bottom
@adaptivetravel4 жыл бұрын
I do normally use a stairlift in this house and have a chair on each end too ;) but it's a very good skill to have, I use it a lot when we are not at home

ive been in my house since i was 2 so i'm just used to shuffling upstairs, it helps that i do have some movement, specially in my right leg, so i can push a little bit, but mostly i'm just used to it as its how ive always done it for a long time. i didnt at first when i was a little kid, i used to crawl up on my hands and knees but one day i had an 'oh s**t im stuck' moment, felt like i was going to fall so since then ive shuffled.

I use a wheelchair due to a genetic condition that affects all my joints (except my elbows for some reason), and I just don't seem to have the arm strength for this. I've been trying to figure out a strategy for stairs because my dad just bought a house where the bathroom is on the second floor, but all my joints dislocate pretty easily, so I have to be careful.

Hey I’m at the University of Sheffield too! 🤣 You still around Sheff? Might see you out if you are ahaha
@adaptivetravel3 жыл бұрын
Haha small world! What are you studying? We've both graduated now but we do come back to fairly often to catch up with friends. Haven't been recently due to lockdowns so we're due a trip soon when we get a chance. Give us a shout if you ever see us!

@@adaptivetravel hahaha I’m doing General Engineering 😁 What did you both do?? And ah yeah fairs, hope you can get back up to Sheff soon! Will do! 😊

Cool, most of our friends were Engineers of various types too but Craig did Chemistry and Claire did Economics. Fingers crossed! What's student life like there atm with covid?

@@adaptivetravel Oh nice yeah! Both very good courses! And yeah it’s not too bad tbh, quite nice really having so many flat parties rather than club raves as it’s easier to get to know people 🤣 are either of you on Facebook? Would like to chat more aha
@adaptivetravel3 жыл бұрын
Sorry for the slow reply! Ah, we were imagining it would be harder to meet people atm but that makes sense with the flat parties! Are you in Endcliffe? Yeah we are, if you use the messenger on this page it comes to both of us facebook.com/LifeAfterParalysis/

Ugh when i do this my spasms kick in bad and my legs kick out straight and my heel gets caught on each step..the more and more i struggle the more my spasms kick in not to mention losing your pants 😆
@adaptivetravel4 жыл бұрын
I do get alot of spasms doing this but I find they eventually stop if I wait for long enough! It's very annoying! I lose my trousers quite alot on the way up but we just laugh about it and carry on 😅

What happens when you need the wheelchair to get into upstairs
@adaptivetravel3 жыл бұрын
I normally leave an old wheelchair at the top of the stairs which I then transfer into, or I have to ask someone to carry the wheelchair up for me after I've finished my transfer 😀

i just shuffle around when i'm upstairs, its only from the bedroom to bathroom anyway. ive lived in my house since i was 2 so a long time (longer than id like!) so i'm just used to doing it that way.
