Regardless of the story, compared to the graphics and the game itself was really awesome, even the soundtrack. However it had something from the two Parasite Eve games that it did not have, that was Parasite Energy, the RPG style kind of gameplay (heal items, levelling up to get stronger, etc.) and a significant story, with all this time from the new game it became a good stand alone game but a terrible sequel to the Parasite Eve series. But the gameplay was so good, they just had to ruin it, really...

I consider 3rd Birthday as more like a spin-off to the Parasite Eve series, than a follow-up to Parasite Eve 2, so I guess the game still works even without the Parasite Energy and those RPG elements that makes up Parasite Eve

I loved Parasite Eve 1 and 2, but this installment got on my nerves solely on the fact that Aya just seemed so unconfident by comparison to her past games. Always sounding like she was on the verge of tears, it robbed her of the strong character that she was. Now that I think of it... she's was like a metropolis Samus!

My personal opinion about this game: While it is the last of the series in terms of story or whatever story is going on with this... The story was crappy at best with the ending pulling off a Sonic 06 and resetting everything to the beginning of 3rd Birthday's story, which is downright stupid. Aya Brea was honestly one of my favorite females in this series and they decided to just kill her off in the end, which really annoyed the hell out of me. This game is not one for fans of the series where Parasite Eve 1 and 2 are the best for their story and gameplay and should be played more than this game.

Recently heard they are rebooting the series from it's Original Roots. Lore wise, this is a shit show, Square Enix, if you're reading this, you should go back to the first game and build the new one based on that one alone. The second game was okay... but the first one made more sense. Oh and please for the love of All things Survival Horror related... please keep the enemies just as diverse as the were grotuesqe. I've seen what ya'll were capable of during your Square Soft days. I'm looking foward to this reboot, don't make the same mistake as you did with 3rd Birthday.

The big guy is invulnerable to conventional weapons during the early encounters. It was only at the near finale that Aya(the players) finally have a mean to defeat the beastly Reaper once and for all. But yes, Eve and Ultimate Being(a.k.a UB) still poses real challenges back in the older PE game.

Correction, her heal spell heals her for 1000hp with each subsequent use raising it an extra 1000 and capping at 10000. Basically unless you have a weapon that does at least 500+ damage then you already lost any chances of defeating her. Okay not really, can still be done but its an even bigger pain in the butt

I detest what this game did to the Franchise. Parasite Eve 1 and 2 are masterwork Action RPG's that establish Aya as one of the greatest video game heroines ever concieved and then this game comes along and shits all over it's legacy by ruining Aya, ditching most of the psychological horror elements, and converting the combat system to a boring 3'rd person shooter. What a disaster.
