I'll be taking this guide for free thank you very much. Actually, I deeply resonate with the scenario Dr. Crete brings up towards the end of the video. My parents are great providers, they gave me a good education, good nutrition, a good house to live under, and most importantly, Catholicism (also good wifi). However, I just don't feel emotionally secure around my parents; I'm always doubtful that I can talk to them openly about my interests and experiences. In fact, I usually prefer to stay by myself without my parents watching me. Of course I love my parents dearly, but it's just very hard to relate to them.

I appreciate the upload! So, it seems men can learn form women in talking to children. This immediately raises the question what the preferred communication style of a (catholic) father should be - as opposed to the mother. Obviously the solution cannot be just imitating the communication style of the mother in talking with the child. There must be some kind of catholic distribution of roles between the two (especially in these times, when we are told, that there are no differences between the sexes). What are they in terms of talking to children?

Isn't at some point healthier to not give them attention and not allow them to act on every emotion but to control their emotions? For instance, I try to allow my kids to run free but I'll step out and yell for them to come here then tell them I'm just making sure they are safe. Then if I tell him something is going to lead him to getting hurt or he gets a totally minor injury I tell him to breath, control your emotions and rub it off. It's just a scratch get over it.

"It's just a scratch get over it" comes off as minimizing and dismissive of another person's feelings. We shouldn't be ashamed of expressing ourselves in healthy ways. We can get into trouble when we follow our emotions without using our reason and conscience, but emotions in and of themselves are not bad.
