Fantastic talk, thank you so much. May Allāh reward you and all involved in the production. I’m an American convert and my husband is Yemeni, I can confirm converts can come with plenty of baggage, including cultural baggage lol. It is a whole different struggle bringing two cultures together, especially when one culture is not at all Islamic- the only mitigating factor is our Islam, which we of course always agree upon. Now that we have a new baby, we’re both quite keen on figuring out how to protect her and raise her properly in a place where everything anti-Islam is celebrated, and Islam itself is at the very least regarded with hostility. This talk is a wonderful starting point and has already made me feel very much more at ease as a Muslim parent. My husband is without doubt a fantastic example for our daughter, and I’m striving to be a good example myself in shaa Allāh. Alhamdulillāh. May Allāh make it easy for this ummah and grant us all hidayah 🤲🏼

Very nice tips and points! May Allah reward you and thanks for posting it on KZbin for people to watch for free. You’re making attaining knowledge easier for those learning the deen. One point you touched on is back in the days or back home people live in closed knit families so families kept the evil, bad things out and raising the child was easier where as here it’s much more open culture and bad influence is very easy to reach child. I would like to say for some people having that close knit family has bad influence rather good influence. If the family is righteous then it has good effect. But back home a lot of time culture and religion get mixed up. Sometimes from a young age somethings are taught to kids as bad but islamically they’re allowed. And somethings are islamically wrong and kid is taught it’s okay because culture allows it. I’m thankful for being exposed to various culture here in the west that allowed me to see some parts were culture not religion. Maybe if I grew up back home in that closed knit family I wouldn’t have been able to differentiate between islamically right and wrong.
