That was your parents’ plan in the first place. Don’t ever be fooled by them, because they wanted that from you as soon as you were born. It was none of their business how well his career panned out (or not). They just want to make sure that they’ve secured a free ride on the Gravy Train. It’s time for him to kick them off the Gravy Train & tell them that their ticket has expired. He no longer needs people like that in his life; parents or not!

I've heard a rumor that on remote parts of this planet, you'll find parents who don't 'bet' on any particular progeny, but instead they nurture all of their children. And even though each child will have independent drives, motivations, & goals, the parents will still manage to love each child unconditionally while simultaneously treating each of them as individuals. I have no idea where this place is, nor do I have proof the place really exists, but it doesn't stop me from dreaming about it every once-in-awhile.

In the second story, the staff was disgustingly entitled and prioritized themselves over the safety of the patients. They could have used that unused gift shop the entire time instead of invading the space meant for patients. And that clerk should not have been allowed to be on such a power trip so they didn’t deserve any sympathy for how heartlessly they tossed people outside in the heat. The narrator is really trying to equate overworked people in retail with a clerk on a power trip and say that their jerk behavior should be forgiven? This isn’t jerk behavior; it’s someone who enjoys lording their power over others.
@nadinenone4761
@nadinenone4761 Жыл бұрын
Yes. The reader is completely off the mark comparing people seeking medical care to basic retail work. People just wanting to buy stuff, even if it's stuff they need, are a totally different category of people. Deciding to make people who are ill or injured stand outside in the heat for hours is inhumane and disgusting behavior. Being rude about it is just the nasty icing on the crap cake they're serving people coming to them for help.

I think the reader missed a huge part of the second story. This was posted along time ago and it wasn't during the pandemic. Im gonna have to disagree with you on the second story. parents should love their kids equally even if one is more successful then the other and if there is favoritism like what happened in the OPs family in the first story there is a major risk as well like if you are backing the less successful kid and turning to the one who actually becomes more successful for help they will get mocked and laughed at as well as get the door slammed in their face. and no one wants that

Story #2-I strongly disagree with the narrator. Medical patients are compromised customers. A hospital isn't a grocery store. Having worked in hospitals for 40 years I know there is no reason for a patient with physical issues to stand in the sun, leaning on his walker for 45 minutes. People who work in the health industry multitask to the max. Covid restrictions were guidelines not law. The clerk would not have gone to jail if he had let a few people sit in the lobby. The clerk should have called their supervisor for guidance. Sounds as if the clerk was in the wrong job.

For the second story, someone could have literally died from heatstroke from waiting outside, judging by how hot Op described it as, it doesn't matter if it was policy, people could have gotten hurt, Op themselves could have gotten really sick or died if their transport didn't arrive at that time so I can't feel sympathetic for the clerk

There is no excuse for what that medical center did. I don't know why it was compared to retail. I work thru the pandemic as well. They could have easily made the steps for this other then make people wait outside. If that's all they could do they could have used these things called phones for those with cars and those with disabilities had lobby space with distancing.

It being a "tough time" had nothing to do with the story with the rude medical center worker that forced patients to wait outside in whether that was literally harmful. The reason there was such a fast response is because there was a clear class action lawsuit on their hands if they didn't do anything. If it was just that they had to follow policy that's one thing, but even then still beyond unethical and wrong as that's the excuse of many that stood by and did nothing as the Nazis committed attempted genocide. It's the fact that the front desk worker was a literal bitch, which was not acceptable in the slightest. Also medical care work is nothing like general customer service as it requires a much higher level of care because it's an expectation that those arriving are not well, and so expecting them to stand outside in conditions even a healthy person would struggle with and give them attitude if they politely asked for an alternative solution is beyond unacceptable. Just can't believe he tried to rationalize that person was in a difficult situation because it was the pandemic even if they acknowledged what she did was wrong as that has nothing to do with why she was being a total bitch since the only reason people are like that is because it's their nature and not a product of stress.
