How is that an abusive relationship? Think about really hard and listen to that part again. No where does it say he hit her, raped her, or abused her. It only says he was accused of doing those things in the past, told to them by his ex wife, which who knows if she was telling the truth. All he is guilty of as far as we can tell, is not wanting to let her see her parents and not wanting to bend to their schedule because they refuse to come to the baby shower, despite everyone else agreeing to the time and location. And at the end, that just sounds like they were having a heated argument, again it does not say he hit her at all. It really sounds like to me that the parents just wanted to separate them because they don't like him.

I'm 99% sure she just calmed down and returned to "normal" blind state. Such occasions are not so uncommon, I've already heard same stories several times, so I predicted the end right after "we book a flight" moment. To me there are two ways of sorting this shit out: either dig a hole in the ground for Timmy, or let her go completely. Personally, I would've told her to GTFO right after "she told she was scared for her safety" moment and I would've made her remember she had been warned. The ones who think they don't need help just can't be helped. Anyone who develops an addiction by their own will can't be helped until they suddenly realize what they've done and how blind they were. Sometimes it never happens. But attempts to talk them out of it are of no use, but wasting your own time and mental health. Worse, even if you manage to help them, they would never thank you for that, and will likely get in the same trouble again, cause you prevent them from understanding how wrong they are. Unfortunately, for people who lack critical thinking and let their emotions rule their head, such understanding just has to come through struggling. I would be happy to be wrong here.

Sad part: Reminded me to something that happened to a friend of mine. Basically same shit (isolation, manipulation, guilt tripping, controlling, incredible jealousy, etc) with the difference that they at least have a good job and no baby (yet). They also don't live half a continent away, but right in the nearest town. Sometimes i meet her mother, who got this broken smile while explaining that the whole situation "isn't that bad anymore". She does this while knowing, as well as i do, that her daughter was threatened by her SO that, if she ever left him, he would commit suicide, forcing her to stay. It's also worth noting that he already had 8 gfs, while she never had a relationship before. I tried to help for a year or so, untill she decided that this relationship was more worth to her than our friendship and asked me to stop contacting her so she wouldn't have "to argue with him about this" anymore. After that she got even more brainwashed, to the point she defends him and shatters every critical voice with the good ol' "You don't understand this, so don't judge!".

@@thynisia396 Well, how are you going to find someone "meaningful and good" if you don't know anything about them? Point of dating is to get to know to each other, figure out if you want to be together and only then move to committed relationship, if you like each other. It would be rather radical to move in with someone at first meeting. You might end up like the last woman in the video, or the anime predator... Also, your last point applies to everything. Yall don't understand that if you separate them the girl will literally chase the dude. Let me guess if your 14yo was chasing a 20+yo dude you'd lock her in and give her house arrest, and then wonder a few months later why her belly got such a big bump? Kids are kids which means if you tell them "no they're an adult" and bring logic to the table, they're gonna do it JUST to make it a metaphorical slap in your face. The sister acted great and very calmly, as we see it worked

If it's an unhealthy relationship, sure. But if they're happy and treating each other well, there's no reason to intervene. When I was 15, my man was 28. My parents approved, and he's remained a long time family friend.

@ada80555 жыл бұрын
WAIT THE FIRST ONE. IM GONNA COPY PASTE A DIFFERENT STORY.. HOLD UP. Let me tell you that I have made a bad mistake this evening. My girlfriend (who let me tell you is only my 2nd girlfriend of all time) said I am "invited to dinner" with her and her parents. I was very aghast, nervous, and bashful to be invited to such a situation. But I knew it must be done. I met them nicely, I should tell you, and it started off in a good way. The idea slapped my mind that I should do a comic bit, to make a good impression and become known to them as a person who is amusing. When I saw that baked potatoes were served I got the idea that it would be very good if I pretended I did not know what potatoes was. That would be funny. Well let me tell you: backfired on my face. I'll tell you how. So first when the potato became on my plate, I acted very interesting. I showed an expression on my face so as to seem that I was confused, astounded but in a restrained way, curious, and interested. They did notice, and seemed confused, but did not remark. So I asked "This looks very interesting. What is this?" They stared at me and the mother said "It's a baked potato." And I was saying "Oh, interesting, a baked....what is it again?" And she was like "A potato." And I was like "A 'potato', oh interesting. Never heard of a potato, looks pretty good." And then they didn't see I was clowning, but thought I really did not know what is a potato. So I knew I would be very shamed, humiliated, depressed, and disgusted if I admitted to making a bad joke, so what I did was to act as if it was not a joke but I committed to the act of pretending I didn't know what a potato is. They asked me, VERY incredulous, did I really not know what a potato is? That I never heard of a potato. I went with it and told them, yes, I did not ever even hear of a potato. Not only had I never eaten a potato I had never heard the word potato. This went on for a bit and my girlfriend was acting very confused and embarrassed by my "fucked up antics", and then the more insistent I was about not knowing what a potato is was when them parents starting thinking I DID know what a potato was. Well let me tell you I had to commit 100% at this point. When I would not admit to knowing what a potato was, the father especially began to get annoyed. At one point he said something like "Enough is enough. You're fucking with us. Admit it." And I said "Sir, before today I never heard of a potato. I still don't know what a potato is, other than some kind of food. I don't know what to tell you." Well let me tell you he got very annoyed. I decided to take a bite of the potato, and when I did I made a high pitched noise and said "Taste's very strange!" That is when the father started yelling at me, and the mother kept saying "What are you doing?" and my girlfriend went to some other room. Finally the father said I should "Get the fuck out of his house" and I said it was irrational to treat me like this just because I never heard of a potato before. Well let me tell you he didn't take that kindly. Now in text messages I have been telling my girlfriend I really don't know what a potato is. The only way I can ever get out of this is for them to buy that I don't know what a potato is. I wish I never started it but I can't go back. I think she will break up with me anyway.

My sister is currently engaged to a boy (Early 20s) who lied about military service. Not only that, but about being injured while sniping on a rooftop, while in the Marines. He also lied about certification in Car Mechanics and Cosmetology. He lied about having his Master’s degree from MIT. And he “forgot” where he had done his undergrad. He completely isolated her from all her friends, except one. He has convinced her that they were “bad friends for her”, so she’s fine with it. She previously had a consistent job schedule, in a retail environment. She then switched to a job where she could take him with her, UberEats. He also would follow her to class at college. He would either go into the lectures with her, or sit outside the door. She is convinced she can’t stand being anywhere without him basically. She proposed to him earlier this year, and expects us to be happy about it. It’s a Star Wars wedding... I think she can do much better, and I think she’s linked this boy to her growing up as a person. So she thinks he’s responsible for her feeling more stable and such. When I think he’s really just making it worse. He has no job, and my parents and siblings don’t know what to do without her just leaving the family because we aren’t supportive. But there’s her “prize”.

Child protective services won't get involved without any actual evidence of abuse or neglect, but their previous history may give grounds for an investigation. It's still difficult because the parents would just deny any accusation regardless of previous criminal history if confronted. So it'd basically lead nowhere. Unless the children complain to an adult and testify against their parents, or if a cop sees the abuse, a doctor reports injuries as possible abuse, or someone records it and give it to the police, there won't be any evidence.

Prayers is nothing but wishful thinking. It doesn't 'help' anybody but yourself. It will only give you a false sense of self-worth and satisfaction without actually changing anything for the better. @@madman2u Alrighty tighty here, Mr. ""Mad man." I'm not necessarily a religious person, but saying the ever-so-horrible word "prayers" is actually a term of respect. When you live in an extremely religious community like I do, you learn a thing or too. I can clearly see that you're an athiest, and that's fine and dandy. Lucky for you, I'm not extremely religious and more open to suggestions. However, you would do well to remember that if that had been a religious persons comment and not mine, you would never be forgivin. Someone's religion is something they take very personally, and you could really hurt them. Frankly, I don't believe you would care. But it it would make a difference to keep your thoughts to yourself everyone once in a while. As I am a minor, I cannot do very much as far as donations go, but I *hope* things will get better for these people. Have a good day :)

My mom dated an ex-con when I was about 14, they were both alcoholic drug addicts and encouraged me to do so with them. Though, my mom would put on a denial front anytime it came up in a rational conversation. Anyway, one day I come out to the living room and he's in a snowsuit and ski mask(it is winter). I ask him where he's going and he replies, "I'm going to rob a bank". I laughed it off because he would make jokes like that frequently. Mofo wasn't joking, and robbed the bank literally less than 2 mi away from our trailer, with my mom's car and an airsoft gun(orange tip removed) comes back with bags of money dripping in red dye, which my mother helped him bring into the house. I hadn't been paying much attention until later that night, I see them washing the money in the washing machine and putting it into this weird folder thing. I didn't confront them out of fear and disbelief but I went to school the next day, saw his photo in the paper, suited up in the garb I previously described, and told some teachers "I live with that guy." And also I told a girl, a couple years older than me, who road my bus, lived near by, and was training to be a police officer. Later that night I get picked up by an undercover cop and that girl for questioning, which was oddly vague, but the evidence was pretty clear. The next day, this dude bought my mom a brand new car, and was actually trying to convince me that he got an inheritance and that the red dye was just tranny fluid from the old shitty car. That night, I had a friend over, we were there alone, and mid-bong toke the police bang on the door to raid the house. That was a crazy week to say the least. Needless to say, he's behind bars again. I have a couple crazy stories about this guy. He was fucking nuts.
