Battle of Bakhmutburg 1222 AD, colorised
@Christus_Resurrexit9 ай бұрын
The sun hung low on the horizon, casting long shadows over the field of Bakhmutburg. In the year 1222 AD, this land witnessed a clash of titans-the Russian and Ukrainian forces locked in a fierce battle for supremacy. The Russian army, led by the formidable General Ivan Petrovich, stood in disciplined ranks, their armor gleaming in the fading light. Opposite them, the Ukrainian forces, under the command of the seasoned strategist, Colonel Yuri Ivanov, prepared for the onslaught. As the sun dipped below the horizon, signaling the start of the battle, the air was filled with the thunderous sound of hooves as the cavalry charged forward. The clash of steel rang out as swords and shields met in a deadly dance of death. The Russian forces, known for their strength and discipline, pushed forward, gaining ground inch by inch. But the Ukrainians, fighting on their home soil, were not to be underestimated. With a fierce determination, they fought back, defending their land with every ounce of strength they possessed. General Ivanov, leading from the front, inspired his men with his bravery and skill. He fought with the ferocity of a wounded bear, cutting down any Russian soldier who dared to stand in his way. As the battle raged on into the night, both sides suffered heavy losses. The ground was littered with the bodies of fallen soldiers, their blood staining the earth crimson. But still, neither side would yield. It was only when dawn broke on the second day that the tide of the battle began to turn. The Russian forces, bolstered by reinforcements, launched a final, desperate assault. The Ukrainian lines began to falter, their ranks thinning under the relentless pressure. Realizing the battle was lost, Colonel Ivanov made a strategic retreat, saving what remained of his forces to fight another day. The Russian forces claimed victory, but at a heavy cost. The Battle of Bakhmutburg would go down in history as one of the bloodiest conflicts of its time. But for the Russian forces, it was a decisive victory-one that would solidify their dominance in the region for years to come.

Any serious dispute ended with the phrase: "So, that's it, tomorrow gather troops by the oak and fight to the first blood." Hmmm ... there were times ... its very interesting to see how there actually is strategy and basic roles on the battlefield, with the swordsmen are upfront fighting the enemy, then u have the polearms behind them giving heavy hits to enemies already entangled. it was interesting to see in the first fight how he dealt with the enemy charging him, he tried to use his polearm to push the enemy back so he could reclaim his range advantage. very interesting sport, also looks like a lot of brain trauma lol

I'd argue American football is more rough on the body, same with rugby, but this looks like so much more fun than either of those

It is cool, but I bet the real warriors that actually fought in life or death battles thousands of years ago would be laughing their asses off if they were alive to see this.

@@Lithenius Probably not, actually. Given this is what early Medieval tourneys were (albeit with Chainmail armor only, no plate), they'd likely be very familiar with it.
