I agree with adding a bit of water to the block. They tend to really pull the moisture out of your cement, not allowing a proper bond. None the less good work 👍

Great! Would the adhesion be better if you make a water diluted version of your mix and brush it on with a big brush and let it soak in and then parge?

1st I use a adisive mortar to help to waterproof the block , And then I mixed bonding glue with type s mortar to finish it off, It's best to go over 3 times

You are an artist with a trowel. You got a nice mudman too. That parge is nice and sticky. The blocks looked dry, but I saw your comment that you pre soaked the blocks with a mix of water and adhesive. How generous are you with mixing the adhesive with water?

Should wet the cylinder block first. Then you'll get a permanent bond
