"It's not an act of love if you make her" hits the hardest for me. I'm also a woman who likes more traditionally feminine roles *for myself* but I want appreciation that it is an act of love, not something where he feels justified in resenting/critiquing etc if you don't meet their expectations. And it should be valid if someone women don't feel comfortable in those roles, they should be met as individuals not as stereotypes of "a woman is this/does this"

It's such an amazing song, especially knowing women everywhere understand it

The underlying violence in the double meanings that can be associated with lines like "so that he never lifts a finger" (raises his hand to her) and "it's not an act of love if you make her" (IPV) just brings a whole new level of chilling to this song. I enjoyed your reaction, thank you 😊 Florence and the Machine have been my favourite band for about 15 years now, so I'll definitely be checking out your reaction to King too 😊

OOOO... you're right about the double meanings. Thank you for pointing that out. I love it when music goes beyond just surface level and has depth. Thanks for being here!

Did you notice her candle? Shes lit her candle and itburns down and burns out whilst his is never lit at all. A bit of an alogory for women taking on all those roles she mentions whilst the man does very little, til shes burnt out n spent every day. Also the significance of her eating a pomegranate. An ancjent symbol of the feminine and female amd fertility. She devours it. Theres quite a lot of symbolism behind this video when you watch it.

Maybe not all men are bad but every woman has a story with a man

No, not all men are bad. Not all women are bad. Being bad is a human condition, IMO. Not connected with gender, race, religion, or political leanings. 💜💜
