I'm not to sure if you can remeber me, because you get so many people commenting on your videos. I failed my test on the 2nd of this month, but rebooked it on the 22nd (today) and I passed! I'm over the moon now. I took massive amounts of info and confidence from your videos, and for anyone who reads this, I highly recommend you follow this guys videos. Maybe in another world you could of been my instructor, but I took whatever info, and advice you had on board and it helped me. Cheers mate.

As usual a very helpful video. As you know I passed my test on the 15th and since then I have driven around 450 miles for a family holiday(which I just got back from). This sort of stuff should have been on the test a long time a go, along with many other potentially dangerous things. I have learned so much more SINCE passing my test than I ever did before it and that is worrying. I can see why the statistics aren't good for new drivers because the standard that is expected turns people into robots and when faced with new problems some people just don't know how to deal with it. This is where your videos become a life saver for some. I would like to ask you to make some videos about "driving solo" unexpected things you might see or have to do whilst being alone. How to deal with bully drivers, how to deal with people who don't look and pull out on you, things of that nature. And finally thanks again for your great videos. As crazy as it may seem these videos can save lives so please keep making them.

Great video with very clear introduction of parking. Just one more question, how to or should you reverse into your driveway which is on the right side of the road? Appreciate it’s a NO for large road but how about residential road where the house is on the right hand side of the road? Thanks

Do you want to know how to reverse right into a drive way?
@johnlenon5052 Жыл бұрын
Turned left into a narrow side road today, and as I was turning, a car was waiting there to emerge and turn right into the road I'd come from. I was going slow in first gear, but thought I under-steered, came so close to the car and possibly clipped them. I checked the front of my car and it looks fine, but I'm slightly worried because not sure if there was any contact or not.
@JamesTravis Жыл бұрын
You would know if you have clipped another car. You would feel it. You could also check your car for any marks.

Hi sir, thanks for this great video. I just subscribed to your channel as I found it so beneficial. I want to ask you please, I was taught that if I want to pull over either to the left or to the right I must always choose the right place i.e ( avoiding two yellow lines, zigzag lines, entrance to school etc), in addition at a driveway. I can see in the second part of the video you parked at a driveway. If I do that in my test will that fail me? Thank you & waiting for your reply
@JamesTravis5 жыл бұрын
You would not want to block a driveway on your side of the road you are parked on. But you can park opposite one, just not a junction
@katherinebutler88062 жыл бұрын
What happens if you park a bit far off the kerb, but while reversing you adjust the distance, will that give you a serious fault?
@JamesTravis2 жыл бұрын
Depends on how busy the road is. Usually a driving fault

Hi Travis, I'm a bit confused. Do we signal on a mini roundabout or not? My driving instructor told me you don't need to anymore, however first people used to. I just read online that you still have to and could fail if you don't as people cannot predict which way you will go. Please could clear this up for me, thanks! I have my test pretty soon so I'd appreciate it, if you replied ASAP.
@JamesTravis7 жыл бұрын
+Kj. Hi on approach to a mini roundabout you signal left or right, but not ahead. When exiting the mini roundabout you do not signal to come off.
@baybiisk7 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much for replying! I have another question, on the exam sheet if you have 3 or more minors in a certain category e.g: speed would that classify as a fail? I've been hearing mixed opinions on this, a lot of people have stated the minors become a serious, and I saw on one of your other videos someone got 4 minors for speed but still managed to pass?

Hi m8. Why have the DVSA done this manoeuvre? The Official highway code 239 page 80 states Do not park facing against the traffic flow
@JamesTravis7 жыл бұрын
+Phil Richmond hi, it is so new drivers can complete this safely. If you look down a street you will see one or two cars parked against the flow on the right. This could be for their connivence. Or could be because they cannot park on the left because of restrictions. So whilst it is not best practice to park on the right, it is a legal manoeuvre during daylight. Hope that helps

Whenever i park to the right side, the back of my car sticks out in the road? I cant bring it towards the curb. What shall i do 😭😭 also how do i park close to the curb???? Please replyy
@JamesTravis7 жыл бұрын
+Nadia Yasmeen try bringing yourself to the right kerb earlier and then you can drive forward more and level up. The more you practice it the better you can judge how far away you get.
@LilyAllenObsessed7 жыл бұрын
Steer towards the kerb, when close steer away slightly then straighten up.

I have a question. If there are no cars behind you and you are stopped on a hill but dont apply your hand brake so when moving off the split second you roll back is it a fault? If so which one?
@JamesTravis7 жыл бұрын
+Jasmine P good question. If there is a small roll back then a driver fault( minor). I have a video coming out on Monday morning and in it a pupils takes his test and does what you are asking. I think you will enjoy watching it.

Hi Travis, I am new driver but struggling to park, if I have to park left most of time my front tyre hits kerb and back side is too away from kerb. Have you got any tips.. ?
@JamesTravis5 жыл бұрын
Hi, I would go to a quiet area and pick a point ahead and slowly practice bringing the car to kerb, but not at a sharp angle. If you are hitting the front wheel you could be coming in too sharp a angle trying to compensate to bring in the back. If you finding the back is sticking out, then you are coming in too late and not giving yourself enough space to drive forward and let the back follow in. Hope that makes sense

Thank you 🙏🏻

Hi, thank for the video,I have a question about this maneuver, what if your view is restricted because there is a parked car behind you, can you similarly go straight forward slowly and then do the maneuver?
@JamesTravis6 жыл бұрын
If you were on the driving test and you stopped on the right, but before you could reverse back a car parked behind you stopping you from reversing backwards. Then the examiner would probably ask you to drive off when it’s safe and ask you to complete another manoeuvre.

I meant if there is a car behind you but nothing in front of you , can you drive slowly on the right untill your views improves then steer to the left to normal driving position?
@JamesTravis6 жыл бұрын
That’s ok
@sobhiselmo16 жыл бұрын
thank you again. You seem very generous and I am encouraged for one more question. It`s about double roundabouts, I do not mean double mini roundabouts but normal big double roundabouts, what are the rules of negotiating, should we deal with them separately or what?

Can you fail your test for skipping up or down gears or driving one handed?
@JamesTravis7 жыл бұрын
+Big Al333 hi, skipping down gears is ok, skipping up is less encouraged and could result in a fail. Driving one handed in the UK would result in driver errors. And possibly a fail.
@bigal33377 жыл бұрын
Learn-to-drive Travis hi, thanks James. I was curious as to how many times instructors like yourself refuel your learner cars? Also on the manoeuvre in this video, do you think you would fail if your back wheels touched the kerb or would an examiner give you another chance?
@memomemo30625 жыл бұрын
Hi i have passed my driving test, but i often struggle with parking near my house bcz its on the hill I cannot reverse park :( the technique i learned dont work
@JamesTravis5 жыл бұрын
Hi, the thing about reverse parking is which ever way you were shown, you will need to adapt it to suit yourself. You need to practice it to get better and go understand the gaps that you want to get into to. You will find that if you stand on a high street and watch 10 cars reverse parking, 9 of them will probably shunt to correct, which is ok. The same goes for any manoeuvre. It’s like most learners will be shown a certain way to reverse bay parking, but in a busy car park it won’t work.
@8168SMITH6 жыл бұрын
if its unsafe to park on the right why not park on the left why don't they have reflectors on both ends of the car
@rahuljodhwani34787 жыл бұрын
You were wrong to indicate while waiting to move off. You should indicate only when the traffic from behind and front is clear - otherwise they might slow down or swerve because of your indicator
