A good bike work stand is an important part of any workshop. It can hold your mountain bike securely in place whilst you perform bicycle maintenance and basic work. In this unboxing, Doddy takes a look at the Park Tool portable work stand favoured by mechanics across the world.
In association with Park Tool.

The Park Tool PRS-25 Team Issue repair stand is made of sturdy yet lightweight aluminium, with a robust construction that has a max load capacity of 45 kilograms. That's almost twice the weight of most e-bikes meaning that it can easily cope with every mountain bike.
An essential part of every work stand is a soft but secure clamp. The Park Tool Team Issue repair stand has the pro edition micro-adjustable set of jaws, which will hold your bike secure without scratching the paint.
The stand also has mounting features for a convenient tool tray, a paper towel rack and the ability to mount a wheel truing stand.
Do you need this for your bikes? 🔧

I'd use it to give my riding buddy's bike a complete overhaul. It's a little bit neglected shall we say 😂 He's that type of guy to get a mechanical out on the trail and rely on me to have the tools and spares he needs. I'd give it a good service, then give him the stand and tools so he can keep up with ongoing maintenance.

The park tools stuff is amazing and is super well thought out, but there are cheaper bike stands which get the job done. Maybe won't last as long but work well for the home mechanic. Got mine at Lidl for like 30 eur. So to the people complaining about the price of Park tools stuff...get something else that fits your budget. Learning how to work on your bike will save you loads of money...

True I have a velomann V1500 bikestand (IIRC) which is pretty cheap, I forgot how much I paid for it but I'm sure it was under €50. It gets the job done surely but it's hard to adjust the height or rotate the clamp. The clamp also slips so I'm sure my bike will point nose down soon enough and the base isn't all that stable. Other than that it's a great workstand and definitely better than turning your bike upside down that being said I would love to have 1 of these nicer (be it parktools or another brand) bike stands.

This is good stuff. You guys and Park Tool, phenomenal. Seeing these comments below, and being a diesel mechanic, good tools aren't cheap and cheap tools aren't good. Park Tool actually is a great tool for what you spend on them. Just pick up tools little by little. Sure, you can start with a cheap-o stand and tool set, but as you get better at fixing your bikes and those cheap tools get work and take a beating you can replace them with Park Tool. Between Doddy and Seth's Bike Hacks I learned a lot. I was recently deployed to Kuwait and a lot of soldiers had bikes, but no mechanic to fix them. I advertised and fixed people's bikes for free. It helped my fellow soldiers and contractors as well as helped me hone my skills. Slowly I'll be replacing all the tools I bought on deployment with Park because the quality and feel are the best.

Thanks for the chance to win this Doddy. My old repair stand is bad enough that it almost needs it's own stand...you should give away a cardboard Calvin, you know for support in our home shops! Thanks again Doddy and have a great holiday!

Never thought i would need one of these work stands but with my e-mtb you cant properly clean and lube the chain because it doesn't spin backwards. Then I bought the PCS-10 and it is so useful for cleaning and all types of maintenance. Great investment which properly lasts a lifetime.

Stunning, I'm currently rebuilding my bike after bending the derailleur hanger out of shape and currently using a Stanley hobby vice clamped to the top tube. It's not ideal although it gets me by.

Call me a big creep but this was brilliantly presented and really pushed the benefits of these particular parktools. I use a cheap stand I got off ebay and with my Kona Stuff attached the heavy front shocks causes the plastic bracket to twist slightly and so the front shocks dip on the right. It's fine for rigid frames and forks bikes but not really ideal. They claim a weight capacity twice that of my Kona Stuff but it copes badly when the weight isn't centered and the bike is heavy.

Here is my great idea💡💡💡 When making a video review of a repair stand, why not demonstrate how the stand performs? Mount an E-MTB into the jaws and maneuver it in different positions, in the same way you would while performing repairs and maintenance. As you're doing the demo, feel free to make comments regarding the pros and cons.

#askgmbntech I recently upgraded from a 125 to a 160mm crankbrothers dropper Post. Before I could use the clamp on my bike on the fixed part of the dropper. But now that part doesn’t come out of the frame enough. Almost any (including CB) manufacturer of dropper seatposts advice against clamping on the top part of the dropper, yet I see everyone including you guys still clamp on that part. Why do manufacturers recommend not to clamp on the top part, and what are the odds of breaking or damaging the dropper post when clamping on the top part? I have a carbon bike, so I’m quite reluctant to clamp the bike on the top tube. Thanks in advance! Bjorn e46

Got my PRS-25 about a month ago and I want to get rid of it as soon as possible. I found that stand quite unstable and tippy and I won't clamp my CANYON SLX onto this wobbly piece of crap anymore. Expensive mistake on my part. There are better ones around, and cheaper.
