Good points. One thing that came to my mind in terms of wedding videography is this: it's a sinkhole. When you're starting out, do a few weddings and realize that you're making good money, often much more than your friends, it's hard to stop. You start to rely on these weddings, because you didn't have time or, frankly, feel like branching out. Out of nowhere comes burn out, because these things are just so repetitive and out of the sudden you find yourself grinding these things non stop, desperately looking for some other form of video-centric employment. But nobody really wants to hire the "wedding" guy for a serious project... Not saying this is the standard, not saying everyone ends up like this, but I've seen a few of my friends struggle... So just beware and stay creative ;)

Just start shooting, do it as a hobby rather then expecting big payoffs, and eventually, by practicing it that way you can start earning, here and there. That's what i do! My videos are by far not this level of quality, but each one i make is better then the previous, and i already got a few gigs!

My first client ever… $25 grad shoot… Second client the next year $70 grand shoot… Third client $70 grad shoot same year…. The most recent one… on my my tutors/friend had a sister getting married, he asked me to shoot it for him…. I told him I’ll do it for free since he has done a lot for me…. It was a 2 days weeding… the first day I shot the videos and the photos…. And the second day … the main event… I asked him what he cares about more, the videos or photos and you guessed it right, they cared about the video more, so I told him he should hire a person for the video… he hired one of my friends for the video that charged him $800, yah my friend is a professional that’s why… but when I got done with the shoot that night he handed me a check saying it’s nothing much but my parents said you worked too hard and free doesn’t sound right, and the check read $300! I guess $300 is better than free! And after that I have been asked to shoot about 4 weddings and other shoots too but I always doubt myself and tell myself the pics won’t come out good so I just tell the clients no,,, cuz usually it’s friends and their friends and I don’t want to mess up their events! But Im gonna get started again cuz I guess you get what you paid for haha!

Hard restrictions are over in many countries and soft restrictions that are still present might actually be beneficial to long term travellers as they decrease the amount of short-term tourists making everything more accessible to people who actually make it to the destination. I spent 2 months + 1 weeks hitchhiking across 20+ towns in Georgia in 2021, while booking accommodation literally 10-30 minutes before arrival, and I am not sure this trip would have been possible if it were not for COVID - I was told accommodation was not only more expensive, but also booked out 2-3 months in advance just a couple of years ago. In short: COVID is no more excuse not to travel The timing is perfect:) Let me know when you make a move!

Does it also depend on the area you are located in? I have tried real estate, weddings, local commercials and most rather use their phone to do it themselves and or use the local news station's media package for them to shoot and air on the station. So frustrated.
