Both were good. My problem with Jake's is I've seen a lot of cheap/scam products that use that format (especially that opening AI voice). So although the production and everything was good, I felt skeptical about the validity of the product. Alyssa's had me more convinced this was a genuine quality product. Honestly both were good for respective platforms. Jake's for tiktok/KZbin shorts/Instagram, Alyssa's for KZbin and the like.

Alyssa's video is undeniably good. She has a good understanding of the concepts, and little details like the slow motion water shot show this - this is something that needs to be planned at the time of filming because you need to adjust the shutter speed accordingly. I also think that from the perspective of editing and getting straight to the point and selling the product, Parker's video achieves this better. A great demonstration that both knowledge and experience are important.

As a advertising student I have to say that, I'm amazed. Both of the ads are amazing, you have made greate ads, both of you. For me Alyssa's add is amazing, but Jake made what the client wanted and that is the point. Alyssa didn't make and add that the client wanted which was a social media add. Her first step should be "recognising" what the devices are mainly used for those, and the answer to that are cell phones. So your work "surface" is a lot smaller becose it isn't a horizontal screen, but a vertical mainly, her add would be good for TV or KZbin, if you would cropp it to fit for lets say TikTok you would loose a lot of footage.
@almyrrace98442 жыл бұрын

Almost wish you both created a more similar style ad and both shot in the same format, because at the moment it felt like Alyssa’s video was higher in production value, just due to the nature that you chose to shoot your ad, which felt like a value added cutdown for social. Personally I would’ve liked if the styles were both in the same ballpark, shot in landscape, just so it’s an actual comparable scenario. I would’ve also liked to see if the client went in blind, not knowing who shot which video, select the one he would use.
@get_spanked2402 жыл бұрын
In all honesty, while iPhones are still far from matching the quality of cinema/mirrorless cameras, the 6:19 format honesty scares me as KZbin is slowly dying. Im afraid soon many videographers are soon gonna have to (if not already starting to) aim for higher end clients who still see the value of good cameras; which will mean a harsher competitor market and less jobs.

It was a perfect show. Anyone who wants to get into this business has just learned a lot. As convincing as the approach is for social videos, I am not convinced of the product and would never buy it. Why? Every photographer and filmmaker learns in connection with lenses and other valuable optical surfaces: Always use cleaning kits that are NEVER left lying around exposed to dust and minute dirt particles. This will scratch your valuable lenses and surfaces. For sure.
