I use to play Sim Coaster and eventually got my park so happy that I was charging over $4,000 per ticket with around 2,000* attendees per day. I could also charge $100 per bathroom and they would pay. - *2,000 not 20,000 I did this by maxing out my concession stands right next to the rides after a long walk to them, then charges $0 for the rides. The rides were designed to be maximum speed. The people would get off and immediately vomit and shit themselves and would flood to the bathrooms. Then they would have long walks to the next ride where they would become hungry, buy more food, take a free ride and pay me to shit themselves. But because the rides were free, they would pay $4,000 per ticket and another several hundred in toilet fees per day. I'd easily clear $100,000 per day. I would speed the time up and let it run as I went to college or work and come home to millions.

So as someone who's worked at a theme park, you cannot underestimate how popular a tiny, simple, not-that-exciting roller coaster can be. The park I worked at had a "Best wooden coaster in the world" for a while, and the mini-coaster was STILL jam-packed every single day.
@juliamavroidi8601 Жыл бұрын
Thing is, most people don't ride that many roller coasters in their lives, so an average roller coaster is still pretty good to them. And after you've tried the famous big roller coaster, might as well ride all the other ones in the park. (Also wooden roller coastrs, even the good ones, often are kind of rough rides, so I can see why the geberal public would prefer the "nornal" one)
@Axterix1311 ай бұрын
Slower, relaxing rides also tend to be a nice breather between the more intense ones. On the various trips I've taken to Disneyland, I'd often the Pirates ride for this reason... slow, cool (because underground) and not very crowded, especially when there was the light show going on nearby.

I remember the original Roller Coaster Tycoon. There was a demo that lasted a total of 5 minutes before it would force you to quit. Who makes a simulation game demo with a 5 minute time limit? There wasn't enough time to build 1 coaster, let alone see if people would ride it. So naturally I hooked up a debugger and figured out where the time limit was in the code and removed it. Finally I had enough time to actually try out the game. After a couple hours I was kind of bored with it and didn't buy it. Lesson to game developers: don't make the demo of your simulation game 5 minutes long.
