It was Halloween night and Parliament Funkadelic was about to tear the roof off the
Houston Summit, ready to bless the crowd with their cosmic brew of interplanetary
funk. George Clinton, Bernie Worrell, Bootsy Collins and the rest of the P-Funk
collective were riding the success of their first Top 5 R&B hit, "Give Up The Funk (Tear
The Roof Off The Sucker)," a track that had earned them the kind of radio play that
would bring the masses out to see them live in a stadium-sized arena. The group was
only five dates into the tour when they arrived in Houston, but they were definitely
ready to take it to the stage for an out-of-this-world show like no other.
Taped on October 31, 1976, these seldom-seen performances at the Houston Summit
represent Clinton and Parliament Funkadelic in their ʼ70s prime, in the era of their
Mothership Connection and The Clones Of Dr. Funkenstein LPs-a rare opportunity
for everyone to get their proper dose of The P-Funk.

I played this in the car while riding w/ my grandmother and great aunt and they loved it. I told them about Glen Goins and his passing so young. My great aunt interpreted the song as Glen having a premonition about his passing and conversing with his mom and letting her know that he'll be alright. My grandma thought he was consoling his mom, saying he's just hanging with friends and he's fine. Proof that good music always touches the soul, mind and spirit in many ways Fly on Brother! R.I.P. Besides G. Clinton, my all-time favorite P-Funk members were and always will be Glenn Goins, Garry Shider and Ray (Sting Ray) Davis. I will always love P-Funk but as the premier funk band of ALL TIME, they will not be the same with those 3 gone. I am so glad I grew up listening to their music and seen them in concert at least 20-25 times!! I 1st got funktized at the age of 12 back in '74 with the release of Chocolate City. Being from D.C. and MD I was hooked!! Been funkin' ever since!
