In the UK Parliament you can have a vote of no confidence in the Prime Minister and the vote of no confidence in the government usually happens when the government loses the majority forcing a general election.

It is wrong to say that there is nothing above parliament. The Crown is above parliament, hence why it is called "Her Majesty's Government". As a rule, the Crown chooses not to assert it's power over parliament, which is why we call it a "Constitutional Monarchy".

Australia’s like a hybrid - we call it Parliament but our chambers are the House of Representatives and the Senate.

One key difference is that the UK Supreme Court can’t strike down any laws unlike the SCOTUS

I loved it. I just watched it for the fifth time but this time accompanied by my 20 years old daughter who is studying philosophy, politics and law. Thank you

i know that in the UK the lords are called the upper chamber so does that mean in a comparison question when they ask about the upper chamber do they mean the lords not the commons? and then would you compare it to the HOR not the senate

The House of Lords was intended to be a counterbalance to the House of Commons. The House of Commons represented (or so it was intended) the common people. The House of Lords were appointed by the Crown through centuries of tradition to represent the interests of the Crown and the State without political party affiliation or bias. Where the two locked, it was intended that where the Crown would ordinarily have the final say, the final say was given to the representatives of the people, the House of Commons. However, the MPs have abused that power by watering down the House of Lords into a puppet parliament over the last century, which is why the House of Lords has so little power or voice, and why the House of Commons pretty much has the autonomy to push through whatever legislation it wants without proper challenge only "scrutiny".
