Great video. Caiques are feathered monkeys. They truly are silly, non stop clowns. Mine are very affectionate. They can become moody and nippy. They need tons of enrichment and lots of chew toys. They are bold and fearless. I tell people you have to work with and play with your new friend. And, yes, they are unbelievably messy. But, they are my choice of parrot!❤️

Caiques are definitely the first parrots I would get and In my opinion because of there playful personalities there is no other parrot better, Blue and Gold Macaws are a close second cockatoos are also interesting but way to loud for me.. This is one breed that is super high maintenance. They’re very unpredictable and will give very bad bites. They’re also very very loud with repetitive high pitched beeps or noises that can last for hours on end, they don’t wear out easy and are very unpredictable. My caique bit my 2 sons very badly making them bleed, I’ve seen others bite and their owners had to get stitches. Other birds his size he’s been okay with however he’s gone after my African grey trying to bite him. I don’t think this breed is for everyone and if I had known what mine would be it wouldn’t have happened. I was told the opposite when buying him that he was a sweet loving bird who was a clown and he was already 4 years old. Once I got him he was the complete opposite so you never really know what they’ll be like once in your care.

Do you have any experience with Pionus? If so, what are your thoughts? I always wanted a lovebird but I've heard they're sassy and very noisy. I'd like a sweet bird with personality but not too loud. That's where I heard about Pionus but in the few videos I've seen it seems they kind of just sit there alot. I wonder if they have much personality or show much affection.

Hi there I love you videos they are so helpful. I recently got a 2 year caique and he is a adorable, loves to hang out and play but he is extremely mouthy and constantly nibbling fingers, hands, arms etc and also has random moments where he will just snap and bite hard braking the skin. He seems to have issues with you near his food too even if just given by hand. How would I resolve the constant need to have beak on you and aggression as I’d like to train him but need this behaviour to stop xx Thanks in advance for any suggestions and support

I have a Nanday Conure, he is self plucking (complex matter) but you mentioned Hemp Seed (and Oil), is Hemp Seed safe to give to parrots? I think you also said in this clip that dark Linseeds are a healthy add to diet? Would the Linoleic acid of Linseed help my bird (complex issues aside) to stop plucking? Thank you, I loved your review here, I discovered a Caigue parrot at my mechanic shop today, its there shop bird, gets lots of socialisation...Thanks again, Peter
@ParrotBliss
@ParrotBliss 8 ай бұрын
Hi Peter- Yes, hemp oil helps calm. However, you have to address the complex matter. I understand, I have a few complications myself... not easy. Once a parrot has plucked for a month, they are highly unlikely to stop. Worse still, it can escalate (I'm fortunate, mine haven't) and they can bite/wound their skin once they have no feathers. If you like, share the complex issue. Is your Nanday an only parrot?

Hi there, I love watching your videos. I have a caique, she loves to be on top of my head, but she gets carried away with my hair tie and pulls on my hair (already loosing lots)… the worse part is when she rubs her beak on my scalp tends to irritate and at time scratches me. What do you recommend me to do in this case?
@ParrotBliss
@ParrotBliss 11 ай бұрын
Not easy - she's preening you and loving on you. Try positively reinforcing her being on your shoulder or arm so that she's not getting to your head. If you keep working with her to be on your arm, and you are consistant, she'll likely eventually switch. Thank you for watching!

Persistence is a caiques entire mo, but it's hilarious. With that said, if you upset a caique they are going to make sure you are aware. They also can get very jealous and territorial if you don't give them the attention they deserve. Great birds though.

@@ParrotBliss So I have 1 caique right now, but it wasn't the other caique we had she was territorial with. It was a grey that she tried to kill. We did have a black cap and she regularly has play dates with 2 other white bellied that we are friends with, and they all get along really well. The grey we had though she threw off the top of its cage and then tried to attack. We quickly resolved the issue, but we found out that she will throw down with any other bird if she is given the chance. They are always housed in their own cages if they must be caged.

High, I did reserve a greenleg caique young from a breeder on 31 January and by 7 February the eggs had hatched. Amazing video!! I do have a few questions tho.. Are there any major differences in owning a female or male caique?? Can females, like cockatiels, also lay unfertilised eggs? How can you tell them apart? Is there any diffference in personality, appearance, or vocals?

I have had a caique for 17 years and she is 18. Ever since she laid 14 eggs over a year ago she has changed. She is not as playful as she used to be. Nor is she as clownish. I don't know what's happened. She even got a very aggressive with me last year for a few months but now we are back on good terms. But she is really very temperamental. She runs hot and cold. She is good with me and my wife and likes to stand on our shoulders while we do stuff around the house but she really lets us know how she's feeling good or bad. She is very aggressive to strangers and we advise visitors to keep their distance. They are a challenge and I would recommend them but I do think what you do with two is a good idea. My little one has been by her self for a long time. Over the past year and a half I have acquired 3 other birds and that may have had an effect on her behavior. She's jealous?
@ParrotBliss
@ParrotBliss 2 жыл бұрын
Yes, changes can be hard on a parrot. If she never laid eggs before, that could be an issue but I don’t think so. Adding 3 new birds after her having been the only one is more likely. Does she like the Goldens? What’s the 3rd?

I liked the intro, good music, nice visuals, great-looking birds, love it. The point of your video was lost in your commentary. What I could draw out, is: 1. Caiques are highly energetic social butterflies that don’t feel the need to cling to one person. 2. Caiques and their new owners would benefit from some training. 3. When mating, they need time to themselves. Everything else is subjective and therefore not needed. This could’ve been 3 minutes, tops. I highly recommend speeding it up x2 to get to the informative end. She speaks slow enough, tho, that you can catch every excruciating word, no problem.

I feel blessed to have two of these birds now and they will have all the benefit of been together as pairs. They are two males, i am almost sure, the one i got home i know for sure its a male because it has been dna tested, the other i have i am pretty sure its a male aswell because it has tryed to mate on my hand so i guess its a way to tell but i am not 100% sure.
