Power Points are one of the tougher cup and core bullets in my experience. Thanks for the testing

Appreciate the demonstration & description. It is helpful info. I have recently had 7mm match bullets zip through jugs and I thought I missed altogether at 100 yards. But a 308 match bullet absolutely disintegrated into many fragments. I assume it would do the same in gel.

Actually hunted and harvested a lot of game with Winchester power points. The 100 gr in .243 used to be a go to load until I started hand loading. Back then for the money they were hard to beat. Accurate and thumped white tail in Kentucky out to 400+ yards. The 80gr Winchester power point 243 is better suited for varmints. In 25-06 the Winchester positive expansion bullet in 90gr. was a thumper and deadly accurate in my old Weatherby. Possibly the most accurate gun I ever owned besides a custom 22ppc. But that's factory vs custom. Factory Weatherby with factory ammo. Quite a few folks at the range lost money to that combo. Should have seen their faces when I told them the ammo was from Walmart.🤣🤣🤷🏻♂️

Hammer Bullets would like your style of testing. I bet if you had time to do testing, they'd may work with you But who knows..... thay have quite a team already Great video

I have tested a few Hammer bullets and love their performance. Hammer is a great company. I live 20 minutes from their shop.

@@simplemindedfella Oh! Wow! Cool! They just came out with a tipped absolute hammer in 6.5. That should be a real good!

Nice basic bullet for deer sized game. And it sure has taken a bunch of them. Cup and core really does work just as well as premium bullets just as long as you don't over stress them.

super helpful, thanks for the demo. I assume 3006 would work similar?

I think using water works to compare bullets to one another, but will not accurately represent penetration on game. For example, I've compared hornady 158gr xtp hollow points vs 158gr xtp flat point in water, and definitely find the flat points penetrate further and expand slower, just like they're designed to. The hollow point xtp are designed for revolvers, and I believe the flat point xtps are designed for rifles.

Yes water can be a great medium to test when you're testing the integrity of bullets compared to each other. Taking those results and using them in the field hunting is not a good idea, that is not how bullets operates in game.

Water jugs can get you in the ball park penetration wise, but its no where as good as gel.

If you had to use a .308 for a self defense situation loaded up with the power point. Well let's just say that the bad guy would probably be having a bad day. Probably his last day. Ever. 😐
