I know it has been said many times but as a fellow mama, seeing and hearing Kallen's excitement on catching his fish was just heart melting! I loved your response to his excitement as well... such a beautiful memory for him. I was also thinking about all the brush around the cabin...might rent a "brush hog" and just mow down all that brush around the cabin and you can clear a wider trail also. So much easier than doing it with a weed whacker and standard mower.

What a fun family trip to the cabin. Great new boat. Joe is such a good dad. Baiting everyone’s hook and taking the fish off the lines. I hope he was able to catch a big pike as well. Now that's what I'm talkin about/aboot/a fruity toot toot. Joe, Joe can you hear me Joe, dangit Joe listen Joe. I'm so jealous of your boat Joe. I'm also very happy for you as well. It brought back a flood of memories for me. As a kid our family ate a LOT of fish. It was a staple in our home as we didn't have a lot of money and at 10 yrs old I was operating a 28' commercial fishing boat as a summer job amongst many other jobs during the summers. When I say I operated the boat I mean I did it all. The owner taught me everything I needed to know and once I had it all down, he spent the day jawing on the CB radio with the other boats out fishing. This boat had 2 gigantic wooden doors that you dropped in the water and a massive net those door spread open. When it come time to haul it in, I again did all the work seperating the fishes and then back to driving and resetting the net. Mowing lawns, picking fruit trees, hanging christmas lights for the snowbirds, cleaning seawalls in the canals of weeds whilst fending off alligators and cotton mouths lol. Life was good back then. I even had a pet gator, his name was George and much more and yes all this at 10. Anyhow, I would bring fish home from the days work and my grandma, aunt and mother would clean and package them for the freezer. As I said we ate a LOT of fish along with the government cheeses lol. Life was simple back then and you learned to appreciate what you had with no complaints. Seeing you, Tina and the boys out on the river and the excitement of a good days fishing was awesome. Tina you do such a great job with your videos. You manage to get the best shots and the editing is really good. Ok now, onto that pile of scat that was on the trail. I'm almost certain Joe left that there. The reason I say that is, the last monster log he rolled out of the way I could've sworn I seen his whole body turn to grizzly hair and he had such great big gnarly looking teeth and I'm sure I heard him growl when he picked it up. Cracked me up when he said "I tasted it" lol that was epic. So, now that I've written a short book here I'll leave with the anticipation of seeing part 2. Love you folks, be safe and life on!!!

Last time I was in North Dakota. There's a lady who lives next door 21 of our houses up there who's scandinavmaybe in, and she made a pickled pike along with a sweet pickle pike the best part about it is after some time the bones softened.

Why to go Parker and Kellen nothing like catching your first fish, and yes I like pike true bony but oh so good. I'd be exhausted just walking to the cabin not to mention carrying heavy coolers. Northern Pikes are one of my favorite fish to catch and eat 😋 My hubby filettes the pike and I de-bone them to vaccuseal and put them in the freezer for the winter. To eat them we dip them in egg wash and then in some Cajun fish coating and deep fry them 😋 delicious!

Awesome ! Pike is a good fish ! Tina you can make a delicious fish patties with pike , just add a little pork fat or any other fat fish . Just blend it in food processor with a white bread soaked in milk ( squeeze out the access milk ) so they’ll would not be runny add white onion grind it all together add salt and pepper to taste. Form patties And fry in the skillet or in the oven ! No fuss with bones !

I'm a Michigan guy. You skin them pike out put a pound in a pint jar & pressure cook it @ 10 lbs. for 90 mins. All the bones dissolve and it's like making tuna fish or drain it add egg, bread crumbs, garlic & your spices. Patty it up and fry in butter. In a good winter I'll put up 50 lbs. We love it. We spear them in shallow water. Cold temps, less slime. Here we get big ones up to 15 lbs. Try it, you'll like it. 🙃

Enjoyed the trip through your camera lens. You may know by now that the "watermelon berry" does indeed taste like watermelons as you said but it is the plant stalk when young in the Spring that tastes like cucumber. As the plant gets older it gets tougher and less pleasant to eat. The plant is also known by some as wild cucumber. If one of your boys or you adults gets stung by bees again, try chewing willow leaves and place the chewed mass on your stings. It will take most of the pain away rather quickly. If you are at a more domesticated location you may be able to find plantain which is good for the same thing and used the same way. Plantain grows in disturbed soils like driveways, yards etc but typically not out in the woods. So out in the woods one may need to rely on the fore mentioned willow. Once again I enjoyed watching the video. Thumbs up on the video and good luck with the channel. Connie (my better half) says she watches most of your videos now.

The flat hull, is perfect for those tributaries! Boys are happy, you all are happy, pike is biting, life is good! Bears...yep, lucky you have early warning in place! Those dogs are Gold! I remember when we went to the Danube Delta, and got heaps of pike! The motel/homestead cook, made grilled pike and fish soup! Lots of garlic sauce and polenta! Yum! Your place, is like a dream! Game, fishing, family and God! That's the life!
