My BMW F650GS has begun losing power at high speed again and stalling. This time leaving me stranded in the middle reservation of the motorway. Like before, once I've turned the ignition off and back on again, she starts up fine.
I had this issue a few months back but after replacing the fuel filter regulator it seemed to go. I had just built my confidence up again riding my F650 when on my way home from Wales (after about 20/30 mins), the old bucking bronco came back. After a few short bursts of the throttle with the clutch pulled in, and easing on and off the power, somehow the issue seemed to clear with out stalling so I nervously carried on with my journey. 150 miles later I pulled in to a petrol station on the motorway, filled up with fuel and joined back on. After about 5/10 mins, I pulled in to the fast lane to overtake a lorry, but this time bronco came back, and my bike stalled as I quickly squeezed in to the gap in the middle reservation. I had no stalling issues on my way down to Wales only 2 days before.
My friend has a diagnostic tool which we are using to try and locate the problem. We have discovered my o2 and air sensors appear to be faulty, and the diagnostic tool is also picking up a valve malfunction error. I have ordered a new air temp sensor which I will install this week to hopefully eliminate one of the fault codes. I also plan to do some checks on the fuel injector in the weeks to follow. More videos to come.
