Never allow someone to cheat and let them return. You will never see them the same way no matter how hard you try. It will always be in the back of your mind. They will always be the right environment away from doing it again - knowing you will take them back if they do. I've been there and I would never ever let myself be there again... It is the worst pain I have ever felt in my life. I would rather break all my limbs multiple times than be that guy again. My mentality is damaged beyond repair so I have major trust issues and I have resigned myself to being single for the rest of my life. Trust, self-esteem, ability to build meaningful relationships, all of it. My experience is my own and after talking with councillors I know I have a form of PTSD from living it. My issue is not that I don't trust the other person to stay faithful (although that is of course a worry). My trust issue is more about my own damage. I don't believe I would make a good partner in my current state. I don't want to be a burden to someone. Why should I trauma dump someone else when I can just try to live a good life on my own.
