I started my locs in 2019 right after my fight with cancer. I had about a half inch or so of hair. January 26,2024 I cut them into a bob. Like chin length bob, they had grown to my mid back. I feel lighter. I still love my locs dearly. But hair does carry energy etc.. so it was needed and I don't regret it. So you go girl 🎉

I completely understand that lint made you want to comb out your locks... I’ve undone mine twice: energy-consuming, but it’s so nice to see our hair not so damaged.

This is my reasoning also. I'm currently combing out my almost 4-year-old locs, and it is a challenge. It's taking me about 2.5 hrs per loc, but I'll get there eventually. I appreciate the journey and what it taught me, however, I'm ready to embark on a different path. My hair grew a lot and is healthy, which was my ultimate goal. Now I'm moving on. Thanks for cutting to the chase with your video. It's wonderful to see someone who has reached a level of calm and acceptance about the end of their loc journey. It resonates. Good luck in all your future endeavors.

You were one of my top I spots for my locs 4 years ago. I cut them clean off a few months ago because they were just energetically heavy and had lint buildup. After I cut them, I met my husband😊 God told me to cut them off to start anew, I listened and He sent my beautiful blessing.

I’ve had my locs for 1 1/2 years and no build-up. The key to no build-up is to RETWIST them with WATER ONLY!!!! My sister used oil and water to retwist, and she had build-up. I think the oil also attracts things or makes it easier for things to stick in your hair!❤
@LoveIslandBeauty Жыл бұрын
This is good to know! Okay, water only if theres a next time!
@girlgoneplaces Жыл бұрын
I’m curious how you get the retwist to hold with just water?
@texasgoddess323 Жыл бұрын
@@girlgoneplaces When you retwist, clip your wet hair, and let it dry, it stays as though you had product. I now put FRACTIONATED coconut oil in my water bottle when I retwist. (About 1 teaspoon per cup.) It’s a very light oil that doesn’t cause buildup. My locs are clean and light weight. I wash about twice/month. Oct will be 2 years loc’ed. My loctician insisted that I use something, although my hair had zero damage, lol! I use edge control for my edges for the finishing touch.🥰

@@LoveIslandBeauty Update: Although my hair has zero damage and is perfectly healthy🥰, my loctician insists that I use some type of oil, so I put about 1 teaspoon per cup of FRACTIONATED coconut oil, which is super light, in my water bottle, for spraying my hair when I retwist.💞

I combed out my year old locs over a period of 5 days and I’m still trying to get my hair to recover. I retained a lot of length, but there are lots of splits and other damage all along various threads. I’ve been trimming monthly, but it will be a long time before I reach all of the damaged hair. Looking back on it, I wish I’d just cut and started fresh.

Sad to see your locs go. They were sooo nice and thick. But I get the need to take them out. This is my second set but after 6 years, I’m thinking of cutting my locs and starting over only because bleaching so much changed the quality. I was able to shave the back which has grown back nice and thick because I didn’t put any chemicals in it. But the top is thin. If I decide to cut them I’ll do the big chop.
@ldbwa10509 ай бұрын
That’s exactly what’s going on with mine. I won’t dye them again next time. I’m debating on cutting or combing out. Can’t come back from the cut so I may just comb out and see how damaged the colored part is.

I love your honesty. I started my loc journey Feb. 6, 2007 and in June 2018, I did a shave on the sides but that didn't fix my need for change. I had reattached the ones that I shaved off after letting the shaved part grow back but in September 2021, I decided to combine 4 locs so that I can create wicks and I chopped 16 inches off. That major change didn't fix my overall need for change. I have since decided that I will comb out my wicks and just rock my natural how...this comb out will start Oct. 2023 bcus I will be renewing my vows Dec. 2023.

Thanks for sharing! I had my locs for 6.5 years, I decided to "break up" with my locs 6years ago. I have no regrets!! It took me 2 weeks to take them down. I was a full time student & full time mom of young child. Planning 2 birthday parties & studying for finals. It was a very crazy 2 weeks but I finished the night before my birthday. I love styling my kinky coily curly hair, there are so many options styling my hair now. Yes there are some days I do miss my locs but those are mostly during my lazy hair days when I don't feel like styling my hair. Your hair looked beautiful with locs & it still looks beautiful with your natural hair. I look forward to seeing you styling & maintain your natural hair!! 💕

Yea same with me im starting ti notice a lot of white spots in my locs due to lint & buildup. So I i wanna comb out my locs of 2 years. Another reason is because of my roots part size, sum locs & bigger than the others. Also the locs in front of my head are longer than the back of my head due to when I started growing my hair from a bald fade hair cut. So I just gonna get them combed out & deep cleaned & reloc them exactly how i want them
