Brand new to this KZbin channel and to sleep apnea. I had no idea that I had sleep apnea until I had a stroke last November. It's been a long 6 month journey and I am learning a lot. My sleep study report showed that I was having 78 events per hour with my oxygen levels dropping to 68% every night. Sleep apnea is not something you should take lightly. After months of therapy, I am thankful that I can talk, think, type, write, grasp, stand, walk, and so on. I am grateful that I can watch these videos and learn how to use my CPAP. After going through a lot of insurance approvals, etc., I received my machine on May 8th. Thank you for providing valuable information. It is helping me tremendously.

Well I have been using mine every night for 5 years. Huge difference in my life. All positive. I use to snore and wake up with terrible headaches. At the time I thought it was allergies. It was O2 deprivation causing those headaches. Since using the mask I have never had another headache. Also because of you and your channel I purchased that cpap hose dryer. Love it. Best thing I ever bought. $160. I even take it on vacation. It's a royal pain but a totally must have item if you wear CPAP.

Grateful I found your channel so I can learn about sleep apnea. You're funny and enjoyable to listen to! Hubs said I snore and stop breathing, so I did a 3 night at home sleep study, and the fax of a fax of the results that ended up at the sleep institute is illegible so I don't know the particulars, but from what she could make out, the N.P. said I have obstructive sleep apnea. I bought a used machine and although it's not set up for me I tried it last night and according to my SnoreLab phone app, I didn't snore even once! I'm waiting for an appointment to get the machine specifically set up for me but they're backed up and short staffed at the place closest to me. So in the mean time, I'm going to binge-listen to your videos while I'm working.

I was diagnosed with Sleep Apnea 2 years ago and watched this channel to look for advice and ideas and got a fantastic cpap machine that has helped save my life. No over exaggeration. The day before I got my machine I almost fell asleep while driving and had to swerve out of the way of a truck. Sleep Apnea is real and machines can save lives. Thank you for this channel

Hi. This is really well done, especially for the group of people that don't understand the diagnosis and need down to earth info. I couldn't find the second video but I've more to examine. Thank you Jason, I don't know when you did this informative video, I'm here to binge a bit on your material, especially speaking of the virus. 2020 began tough pre virus....I hope things for you & your family including Mr. Squirrel are holding steady. If it's available & deliverable I'm planning on ordering some Mask Bright finally. I love the mugs & plan to get one also. For all you do, it's appreciated!!

Whoa.....this video isn't even listed yet!!!! Releasing it tomorrow. Logistics of adding supportive "deep dive" links and back links for all videos is making my planning look like I'm trying to catch a serial killer. I appreciate the kind words and really hope that the series hits the mark for people that it's intended to help.

I experienced sleep interruptions due to acid reflux. I don’t snore, don’t wake up gasping and choking , dry mouth or headache. The doctor referred me to a sleep centre ($$$$ for both) and according to the device I was attached to, registered moderate sleep apnea. Right. The sleep centre hounded me for weeks to purchase one of these expensive machines. I finally told them I registered a complaint with the appropriate consumer body and the calls stopped. Solved acid reflux through dietary changes.

My husband was 43 before he found out he has Sleep Apnea, had all the signs, he snored, he would wake himself up from holding his breath, he would twitch in his sleep etc etc. Since he has been on the Cpap he is a different person, he is able to rest and go to work and feel like he has energy, unlike before, he could not get enough see or ever feel rested. The cpap does make a difference.

I’ve been on CPAP since January 2020. Seriously has changed my entire life. I can actually get restful sleep, I only nap when I’m sick, when before I was so sleep deprived I felt the need to nap every day. I was classified as mild at about a 7.5 ahi, but I had so many reras, hypopneas and extreme leg/limb movement they decided to treat me, even though I never went below 90 sat. They decided to treat only because I have serious family history. I’m glad they did.

@GreyGhost-r4z4 жыл бұрын
I had this same reaction for the first 7 months of my treatment because my initial doctor never pointed out that I had a 90% deviated septum.that required surgery. After healing for about 3 months I went back on Cpap therapy and it has benefited me. See an ear,nose and throat doctor and get examined. The procedure was one day and there are several options these days. If your mask ends up on the floor a lot this is most likely the reason.

I just did a review yesterday of my nights where I slept well, and those where I felt I didn’t. The most common thread wasn’t my AHI but the number of RERAs I experienced. However, I can’t figure out why some nights with almost no CPAP pressure I have almost no RERA, and other nights I have a bunch. Stupid sleeping stuff.

Look at that handsome dude! Hi Jason! Hope you're doing well, as possible, during these difficult times. Thanks so much for this video! I am still getting use to my sleep apnea and my machine! Having the right mask is everything. I haven't found my match yet, but will keep trying. Afterall, all we have right now is time 🤷🏿♀️

Just edited # 4 in the series today that has to do with masks and which might be right for you. Probably released Monday. Not a deep dive into the subject, but might be something helpful in there for you.

@@Freecpapadvice I shall take a looksie! Thank you! I still have the Dreamwear FFM. I personally love it, but my jaw/bite does not lol Too much pressure. My Sleep doctor suggested lowering the pressure as well. My current pressure is 5-15 on the Dreamstation. He wants to reduce it to 5-11. (Rather, I have to do it manually; since I can't physically see him right now and my DME is MIA) Perhaps that tweak and buying (outright) a NASAL mask is all this big girl needs.

Lanky, I have a question for you, and it is serious: is it possible forcme to hire you for coaching? I've had it for a few years and have gotten nowhere because I am so executively dysfunctional about this issue. If this is something we can discuss, let me know.

Appreciate all your videos and the time you take to make them. Quick general question. My dad is 75, he had the widow maker surgery done 10 years ago. The Cpap office told him his heart is to weak for a CPAP. He only uses an oxygen machine. Couldn't they just lower the pressure so he can use the machine? He was diagnosed with sleep apnea. Thanks
@Freecpapadvice4 жыл бұрын
I don't really have an answer to that. Feel like I should, but I've never heard someone be told their heart is too weak for CPAP. Too weak/inefficient for ASV....yes, so it's a possibility.

Important to note, WOMEN generally don't snore. So if you don't snore and think that means you don't have sleep apnea, it's not a symptom you need to look for!

I used to brag, "oh I fall asleep in under five minutes, I am a good sleeper." WELL I found out during this whole sleep apnea diagnosis that falling asleep in five minutes is BAD and almost certainly means you're EXHAUSTED. When I did a sleep study they also found that I dropped into REM sleep almost immediately upon falling asleep. all bad!

Hey Jason, you know that you are a little bit crazy. :-) But from all sleep apnea youtubers I like you the most. I only didn't like your promotion for that Bleep with these disposal Dream Ports. Not very environmentally friendly. I would like to know if you use them yourself.
@Freecpapadvice4 жыл бұрын
That's like telling your kid that they are your favorite....when they're an only child!!! 😂 Yes, I really like the Dreamports. My one grip with them (and disposable mask wipes) is that they are disposable. For some people there really isn't another option with problems of leak and needing to go without headgear. I don't use them, but I don't really use any mask long term. I am constantly trying out new masks as they come out. Used F30i for the last month or so and am now using the N30. (Videos soon on those)

Which do you think it's more annoying to say? I'm a registered polysomnablahblah or I'm an otolaryngololalala?
@Freecpapadvice Жыл бұрын
Registered Polysomnflism for sure. "registered" makes it sound like you're an 'offender' of......a specific variety. Plus it sound pretentious as hell. Otolaryngoflisms are M.D.'s. So even if it's annoying you can still flex that you're an MD.
