So today is 11-28-2024 Thanksgiving, It is an interesting time..where perhaps America will get a reset and by the grace of God with little violence... Watching this one competent man doing this work with commitment, humility and quite command is inspiring and reminds me of the kind of men who built this great nation.. Let us all be thankful and renewed...and commit to being our better selves everyday. Look inward and quietly go about the work of rebuilding ourselves...and the nation will follow.

I concur with many of the other remarks. Love this bunch of videos on this gem of a car. My first car was a restored 65 Mustang, My uncle had a Mustang shop and I bought a car for cheap and he taught me how to restore is to a working car. That was in the early 90s. We swapped out the 289 for a 428. It was an amazing car. I wish I still had it today.

I did that new timing set screw up on my 390 20 years ago,, the spacer is built into the new cam sprocket for the new timing set and I didn't even realize there was a spacer on the cam but I did when I started it, lol.. Only ran it about 20 seconds and shut it down. It sounded crazy.. Started all over again and figured out the mistake. What a PITA it was.. lol I actually called Cloyes and told them they should put a warning and/or diagram in those FE timing chain sets and they were not interested in the least... Didn't hurt it at all,, I drove it for years after that...

I am enjoying this series so much! I saw one of these Shelby engines at a car show 35-40 years ago (I don't even think it was in a Mustang, my memory tells me that someone had installed it in a Mercury Cougar XR7 - it was an odd duck which is why I remember it), with that OEM dual quad setup - I think the first time and last time that I have ever seen one in person. I was lead to believe that you shouldn't reuse the head, main bearing and the connecting rod bolts because they have. been torqued which stretches and weakens the bolt. I see Jason throwing them into the save bucket. Maybe the shop that is rebuilding the motor will replace them.

@FiteTheGoodFightАй бұрын
FE "Lemans" rods had cap screw fasteners, not rod bolts as your engine has.🧐 They rated for use to 7500 rpm in the 427. They were found in the 427's, 428 SCJ and possibly the 406's only. Lemans rods are quite a bit beefier than Police Interceptor rods. P.I. rods are beefier than base 390-428 2v/4v and truck rods. 390, 406, 410, 427 & 428 all have the same rod length. Ford just changed the piston pin location. I'd be questioning the book he's using for the part numbers of those rod casting numbers. Lemans rods are superior, but the P.I. rods you have there are still pretty good. 390 GT also came with the PI rods.

If both of those heads were C7AE-A heads, the only difference would be the bolt patter on the exhaust ports. After 1965 Ford didn't have a lot of different performance heads. Your options would be 427 Medium Riser, 427 Tunnel port and 428 CJ heads. All other heads could and would be used on anything from a 352 to a 428 in a car to a truck.

One reason I usually can't stand these video's in the absolute BS they spout about the value of this stuff. FE PCV tube - $300-400? NOPE, they're on eBay right now for under $100 Top end (heads, intake, etc = $1,000). NOPE, try selling FE heads that only have the vertical bolt pattern. A cast iron FE intake? I've got the exact same intake off my 428 for sale, right now, for $25 and nobody wants it. He paid $2,500 for the intake? He got scammed, you can find them for $1,500. Poor Jerry, you should really learn to turn a wrench yourself, it might save you some money.
