I’m from the UK. I am not a big car guy, compared to my brothers and friends. I love watching classic cars, barn finds, being restored. Most shows that I have watched in 15 years claim to ‘restore’ cars but really don’t. I know there’s a big market in the US for muscle cars. But it pains me to see classics with flames, company logos, skulls and bones. Jason is true to the car and has done great work. I hope we get to see more of his work. Love the car!

Very very cool. The Shelby Mustangs are so trick and custom looking. Carroll Shelby really nailed the look in the 60s! This has been a great build and top shelf work!

@ There was a 66 prototype GT350 that used 65 T-bird taillights but all 67 Shelbys used taillights off 67 Cougar. 65 T-bird units were used on 68 as well as 69/70 Shelbys and 68 California Specials. I prefer the slimmer, less ornate 67 Cougar units but full transparency, I do have a bias😉

Cougar taillights, not T-bird!
@thewriter2549
@thewriter2549 2 ай бұрын
Yeah, I know. You are correct. But, I got to looking and I wonder. Didn't the glass pass down from 1964 T-Bird to 1967 Cougar? Take a look and let me know.
@markhale8084
@markhale8084 2 ай бұрын
@@thewriter2549 Nope, the Cougar lens don’t have parallel lateral edges, they slightly converge toward outside end AND come to a slight point whereas 65 T-bird lens are very rectangular (with rounded corners). The Cougar lenses also have a peak down center of lens (with those odd flat spots) while T-bird lenses are pretty flat.
@thewriter2549
@thewriter2549 2 ай бұрын
@@markhale8084 Oh, so the Cougar taillight lenses are unique and differ from the Thunderbird lenses. And Shelby used the 1967 Cougar lenses, but not the grated covers. The 1964-66 Thunderbird taillights are the same?
@markhale8084
@markhale8084 2 ай бұрын
@@thewriter2549 Yes Jerry on the Cougar taillights sans the grates that were placed over lenses on the Cougar (making the installation on the 67 Shelbys so much more attractive….IM not so HO). As far as the T-bird goes, I don’t think there is complete interchange between the taillights found on the 64-66 “Flair Birds” as I have heard some call them. For one, the 66 has a lens that runs across the entire rear panel so that is unique. The 64 and 65s aren’t represented as interchangeable in my books…and when folks are looking for replacements for their 68-70 Shelbys, I always see reference to the 65 taillights not from a 64 so I assume there is some difference there too. BTW, really been enjoying all your videos on the 67 GT500…I also really enjoyed the one in the garage where the 67 GT350 with Paxton was being “unboxed.” Great stuff and hope to see this red GT500 at next summer’s SAAC at Sears Point!
