Part 2, 1940's Black Forest Hubert Herr Germany Cuckoo Clock Repair

This clock was needing a little TLC. Cleaning and oiling. New Bellow made with Tyvek Paper and put it all back together again. This is Part 1 of how I did all this. Thank you for watching my friends and God Bless.

Here I do most of my work on clocks. Mainly cuckoo clocks, yet I am always looking for the unusual and eye catching clocks. Some of the clocks I get into are ones that need saved from the dump. They fell off the wall from not securing the clock to the wall using the stud behind the sheetrock. Some of the clocks were laid to rest out in the garage or barn and I accept the challenge of getting them back together again.
A well loved clock at one time is one that has a lot of wear and you find old bushings that might need to be replaced.

These scissors are about 12 years old. My wife would only use them for sewing. I can hear her every time I use them and the hair stands up on the back of my neck, lol. That would be cool to pop in Subscribe every time the bird comes out. Thanks so much for stopping in Bat.

I love those older clocks like that, you can almost visualize the excitement of the 1940's-50 having a cuckoo clock in the house and the people's daily life and the American promise they had ahead of them..

Hello Mike, I have a cuckoo that I would say is older than this one based on appearance, it's also larger, with a dial that is about 5.5" diameter. It has what is clearly a Hubert Herr movement, but it has no markings other than Alfons Herr stamped at the bottom of the rear plate. I can find nothing about an Alfons making clocks, though I did find a record on Ancestry for a 20 year old Alfons Herr who was killed in Russia in 1941 during WWII, no idea if they are related.

I am terrible when it comes to dating clocks and what not. I normally ask the clock group on FB. There are some experts there that seem to help a lot of people, but there are some that also have there nose too high to give a descent answer. What you have come up with is interesting. The Tyvek paper is easy to buy compared to leather. They blow the same amount of air for the whistle box and I am sure the leather is a bit harder to install back on the bellow frame.

I just replace the whole unit instead of papering the bellows

I use to change the whole bellow also. Then I found the Tyvek paper and is so much cheaper and after you have done two or three, you will find that it is so easy to do.
