Apollo is so smart he effectively is showing her the dimensions of the field, where the water is, gates, shelters, that there is another field. And he even comforts her with grooming. The white tape is fabulous to define the field so much safer. Farouk is so jealous! He's pulling faces because she got to float there first and he had to wait. I think Apollo has Bella as his princess so Farouk can give up the dream of being second. I thought Apollo watched that interaction and was not impressed at all. No ones gonna herd his little girl but him! So funny!

A few Sunday's ago, when Bella was in the first throws of gallivanting about with the boys in the paddock. each time I saw Bella she made me think of a famous person. I then wondered who the boys might be if they were humam!!?? Apollo, with that black hair and fancy leg work, it would have to be......The King... Elvis! Farouk, with those youthful looks, ..........the Peter Pan of Pop.........Cliff Richard! Bella, With those jittery long legs and wild hair.......the one and only Tina Turner! Singing to Apollo...... "You're simply the best!"

Something neat to watch out for is when they become a really tight herd, when they're grazing contentedly, they will hide each other when they're being watched. I've already noticed it some with Bella and Apollo. Pretty cool stuff.

Hi. It seems like everyone is settling in at the field, and learning their roles in the herd word. Very interesting. It gives Apollo an extra job in his world, to take care of his herd. Here in Vermont, the colleges are opening up, so the virus threat will probably go up as the kids don't seem to obey the social distancing rules, etc. They rather party, etc. But we are staying home, doing our part and hoping this thing will fade away some how. Not knowing which end of the Republic you're in, but we've had to deal with all the snowbirds since March. Not complaining about the people, but our normal population surge has continued all summer, instead of quieting down for the summer. The non-resident owners fled here to get out of the cities and the population density, hoping to avoid exposure to COVID-2019 exposure. With 85% of the properties non-resident owned, and the fact there's been nothing said about ski season - if any - I'm uncertain as to how our business sector is going to survive.

Good filming today Rens ! I love seeing Apollo's watch and exquisite shepherding of Bella. A laugh when she cut in front of him twice when they were trotting, the scamp. He seemed to let it pass... until they were standing still, side by side. He turned and walked right on through her middle to push her aside, lol, his message couldn't have been more clear- "Don't think you can get away with any of your tricks little sister. You've felt my far superior intelligence, muscles and weight. And the timing of correction ... is mine." What a leader and gentleman. With the addition of Farouk, who can out run and manouver her, and with the fun and great good manners of them both, Bella is lucky to have the best of equine teachers. I think they'll have great times in the big field !

I find their manner of establishing herd hierarchy extremely fascinating. Apollo is definitely The Boss and takes that role quite seriously and leaves Farouk and Bella to sort out their own places to them. Delegation of duty! If Apollo was human, he would be a stellar Chairman of the Board who kept everyone in their places, whilst not taking any crap from anyone! Thanks!

Hi Tara Rens and Steve, I expected more running around when Farouk arrived but maybe Apollo would have put an end to such nonsense! At one point Apollo was trotting away from Bella and you can see how fast she had to move to keep up to him. Having Apollo and Farouk in the field with Bella will really help her settle in. Apollo is definitely the leader but he is very kind about exerting his authority - nudges, ear and eye signals vs bites. Apollo had to tell Bella a few times to find a spot and eat as, " I heard Tara say she is cutting back on your sugar beets." All three horses look great and Bella has come a long way from the little waif that was delivered to you. Take care.

Thanks Tara I could sit and watch the three of them all day long. I know Apollo needs his space and Bella is literally stuck to him like glue. It’s lovely to see Bella looking so well. Her skin is looking so much better and not a rib in sight. She looks so happy just wandering around taking everything in. It’s all a new adventure for her. Next test is the farrier I think. I was surprised Farouk didn’t have his usual gallop around the field but loved how he acknowledged Apollo as soon as he came in. Lovely video. The herd dynamics are interesting. Of course, Apollo is the kind but firm boss and Bella is the slightly rebellious teenager who varies from respectful to slightly naughty. I think Farouk is a bit jealous of Bella and the attention she gets from Apollo and I think he knows he will need to assert himself to keep the #2 spot. Apollo is a powerhouse. He is an impressive horse. Farouk is like greased lightening - fluid, fast and flashy . Bella is the pretty new girl, a bit unsure of herself, but with a bit of an attitude too. She looks healthy and happy. Thank you for showing us the "herd" in the field. (Great job, Rens) What a marvelous group, each so different and with so much to offer. Tara, you must be so pleased with how each of them has turned out and how far Bella has come in a few weeks.

Really nice the way Bella stayed close to Apollo, it was like me and my shadow. Apollo seemed to be waiting for Farouk to come before he relaxed. He knew he did not have all his herd with him. Then Farouk came into the field and immediately went over and said hello to him. After that, within a short space of time Apollo seemed to relax. They look so good together.
