Bella wasn't abused, just neglected, ignored. She is a delicate little one, a diamond in the rough... Tara is the gem cutter...Bella will truly shine soon

Neglect is a form of abuse. God knows what they did to her to get her ready for getting to Tara's in the trailer?
@bearythoughts18494 жыл бұрын
@@kitkatmccabe yes that was my immediate response to her comment and you are correct about neglect by ignorance is abuse whether deliberate or purely not enough time for all the foals and mares which she shouldn't be breeding so many or at all whilst doing a full time job too.

I'm really enjoying watching your vlogs with the youngsters Tara. Your training methods are absolutely fantastic and a joy to watch. I've had my new rescue Galgo Nola just over a week now - she is just like Bella, but unfortunately has suffered physical abuse as well as mental abuse too. She was starved too but isn't food orientated, so I only have my voice to reassure her. I have always used many of the horse commands when I take my dogs out, such as 'walk on' 'trot on' 'stand' etc. After watching your vlogs I am now using the word 'and' before the command like I've watched you do - all my dogs, from my 11 year old whippet Jim, Jenny the 5 year old Galgo and even Nola my new girl, move their ears back when they hear me say this, as they are then listening for the next instruction! It's one of the best things I've learnt in years so thank you for helping me with my dogs Tara! Nola is like Bella and just like being stroked, no patting unfortunately. She is starting to stand next to me to be stroked, but after so much abuse it is going to take a long time for her to trust. Watching your vlogs is truly helping me when I'm doubting myself - and seeing Nola stretched out flat in a bed full of fleeces, knowing that she is comfy and safe does help me. I am so glad I found your channel and your training methods are so transferable to dogs in such a kind and caring way too. Much love to you, Rens and Running Man too, from Liz in Lancashire xxx 🐎💜🐎💙🌞🌈

Tara, I had a wild Mustang that was 15 years old when I got. She had been badly abused, possibly used in wild horse races and it took me 7 years and a trainer to start her, but she learned that I wouldn't hurt her, she got very affectionate with me but was cautious with other people. Bella is going to be affectionate when she gets to know people are good. Lots of petting and treats from all of you, she will come around quickly. She's already come a long way.

Oh boy Tara and Rens God Bless you both! Well here you go, it's like you suddenly have two children to raise. Sweet Bella, someone in the comments early said she has Tina Turner bangs :) She has the sweetest face. I do hope the previous owner watches these videos, she needs to see this to understand how beneficial small changes in her care would make a huge benefit in the lives of the little ones she breeds and lets go of. Well you have a plan and have worked hard to give them both time in that beautiful paddock! I remember thinking with my horses, gee we just did this yesterday, why are you so spooky today? Best thing we learned from our teacher, be smart, stay calm, carry on. He was unflappable, at least that's what it appeared to us (and the young horses). One thing I do know, Diablo and Bella won the lottery when they landed with you. I think of them as lucky one, and lucky two :) I don't think the seller could afford to pay someone to do what you are doing for these two. I have fallen in love with them both!

One thing is pressure & release. If she’s fearful/hesitant to do something, as soon as she gives a little, towards that thing, you give her release. That is the reward horses are after. They are thinking, what do I have to do to get this pressure to stop. Tara is doing a great job with multiple horses.she reminds me of the mustangs in the US. A lot of trainers use the “gentling“ on them. I believe it focuses on building up trust firstly, which allows them to be more willing to try things they are afraid of. If you just rush them then they don’t really ever trust you. Little Bella is probably quite overwhelmed on so many levels. I I think she is doing remarkably well! Some YT Channels I would recommend are: Mia Lykke Nielsen, “When Horses Choose”. Warwick Schiller Pat Parelli Sam VanFleet Think Like a Horse (Rick Gore/thinklikeahorse.org)

Aw god bless that girl🐎🥺 She even seems afraid of grass😢 Bella has the sweetest, kindest face, and I’m starting to think that even though she’s not coming along as quickly as Diablo, I think when she feels more relaxed and realises that this is her wonderful new life, I truly believe she will be the horse of your lifetime🐎❤️❤️Rens, has such a soothing way both vocally and physically for the horses, both youngsters and big boys, what a lovely man☺️can’t wait for tmrw. Too hot to ride today and tmrw, so washing manes, tails and fetlocks today... their bodies are fine.... Making up a jug of home made sangria for a bbq later,so will leave the girls with extra hay as will put them to bed around 4.30 instead of 6.30 so we can have a drink as our stables are nearly 3 miles away. The girls have beautiful stables, but don’t use them, they are out 24/7 but have the choice... by putting them to bed, I mean popping their sweet itch rugs on (like pj’s) giving them their feed(Denghie molasses free chaff) and checking water buckets full.... but as we doing it earlier than normal, I will put some hay out on the ground for them. Hope you enjoy the weather too. Take care and stay safe ?.. love to Tara,Rens,Steve,Ike,Apollo, Farouk, Diablo and Bella 💙💚💜❤️💐

Diane really did Bella and Diablo a disservice by not handling them and doing early basic work with them to be better prepared. Also both so underfed. should we be worried about these people as horse owners and breeders who don't seem to know horses or best practice? Do you think she is watching your channel and seeing the videos? Not sure if you are still communicating with her. Also Bella stopping at the grass edge, she hasn't forgotten the fall that scared her in that spot just the day previous. not a silly horse that is for sure. :-)

My TWH gelding was very wary of everyone when I first got him and hard to catch in the field. You are way more knowledgeable than me, but something that I did at first was to go and just sit in his field with him. I always had treats if he could get past his fear he would reach his head waaaay out and take one from me and then run away! I think that spending time in the field with them; paying no real attention to them until they come to you is a very good thing. Now my sweet boy meets me at the gate!

You did a great job preparing for the journey to the paddock, including preparing the electric fence (especially since she was familiar with electric fences) to separate her from Diablo and the bullocks. You absolutely have to keep her halter on, and will have to continue to leave it on when you turn her out, for the time being. At this point, I know you really want to avoid any negative experiences for her, given how timid she is, so that preparation was well considered. I think some of her hesitancy walking onto the grass is that she remembers her backflip! But you handled her very well, as always. Bella is very pretty and will only get more beautiful as she fills out. You and Rens have your work cut out, but you guys are definitely the right people for the job. You have the patience of a saint … which she needs desperately until she gains some self confidence. You are calm and reassuring every step of the way. Your experience from your years with horses will be put to work with Bella. Thank goodness she likes her food (as most horses do) and responded to that. I think I can see evidence that she is trusting you a bit more and over time that will grow. I am sad that she is suffering such stress now … likely much of this could have been avoided if her breeder had done some basic training. Goodness knows how they got her loaded into the trailer to bring her to you guys. But you have been exactly what she needs and hopefully, with ongoing patience and persistence, she will be a different horse in a few months. Looking forward to the next video.

I hope she was easy to catch that first night. You will always know when she is nervous due to her snorting. Thank goodness she is with you folks who treat her kindly during this initial period of fear and adjustment. I think she is going to be fine in the long term.

Hello Tara Great job - you led her to exactly where you wanted her - you had planned it all - had the incentive of food ready - well done - Rens too. Like other's who comment - I do hope the sellers watch your vids & from now on make contact at each birth & do a little each day for the sake of the horses & the people who handle them on the ground as well as later - in the saddle. I was disappointed for you re the time it took to load Little Diablo & although it was good the owner delivered Bella - I suppose we all wondered how he got her in the float (would the food offering have made it happen ? Not sure- But hey - that part in over - onward & upwards & thank you as always for sharing all of your horses The more we learn the better for the horses & we never stop learning. It took me a long time to work with my horse calmly & yet at the same time be listening & having a quick look around to make sure all was well around me Our paddock has neighbours & anything could happen re noise or someone's dog rushing around - but in time I relaxed more & stayed alert at the same time Here in NZ we are all rather unsettled as discussions & decisions are still to be sorted re the return of many thousands of NZ's returning I don't think it is a fear issue - it is more the uncertainty. It's not fear - just separating the angst - & also thinking about others in the world who are having a worse time. The powers that be in NZ are still working on the best places to isolate people & the cost ect ect ect Enough of all that for now We hear things are changing for you all in the UK re places opening etc so Keep on Keeping on Keep well Love to you all xxxxxx :-) Blessings xxxx

I feel like Bella and I are learning what it means to be a horse together--we're a little confused, a little scared, and have spent time in lockdown! But take us outside, give us a treat and we will follow you into unfamiliar territory! Seriously, Bella already looks and acts so much better since she came to live with you. Once she realizes she is in horse paradise, with the guidance of her human and equine companions, she will unleash her inner crazy and enjoy being the horse she is meant to be.

I think she’s a bit up tight after the vets..n associates the head collar with something going to be done do her, which is natural. She’s learning fast..once she calms down n relaxes things will get easier ,and handling will be better. Once she learns the ropes ,and that some give you a bit of a ding all will be well. Mares I think can be a bit nervy at times..and you said she’s in heat so they may be her contributing factor. Well done Tara.

I agree, Susan, I also felt that she is still a bit rattled after the vet visit, but Tara is so patient and kind, and I do think Bella already trusts her, even though it seems that she had a little confidence set-back.

Maybe you could try having someone lead Diablo in front of you and Bella

Where did she come from, besides her seller's place, to have her be like that where she hadn't been exposed to people, etc. But I know with your patience and guidance, she will be great. I hear that filly's can be a bit finicky. We are back in Vermont, yea. Glad to be home, we have had very hot weather, in the upper 90 degrees here.

Great job in getting her to move her feet and then when she’d got a bit stuck, resorting to food, no harm in that to get her out safely and without any bad experiences. It was inevitable she’d touch the fence though, they all do at some stage, but her reaction wasn’t that bad and it’s a good thing that she’ll respect the fencing in my view and as you said, I think I’d rather that then her try and go through it 👍 Your world certainly has been turned upside down Tara and you’ve got your hands full, what an experience though and as they say, every day is a learning day 😊

Bella is such a sweet, fragile little girl. I can't wait to see her blossom. Did you get a satisfactory answer from the vet about the Black dots on her face? I couldn't hear what she said about them. I agree with all the comments below in regards to the neglect of the breeder. If they had handled her properly she wouldn't be so scared right now.

This is not going to be as fast as diablo's training. She's a thinker & she thinks about new things as not trustworthy. ❤🐎

She doesn't bolt; so, there is trust. She tries to follow you as you go through the white fencing and is surprised when she can't. She is just a baby recently separated from her mother. It has to be hard for her. Horse time is much slower than human time. Nice to see you allowing her to think.

I agree with what you said. I was so relieved to see a head down, lick, and chew after something the vet did. Can't remember what it was but I do remember realizing I too had been holding my breath. Her fear is like a concrete barrier. Tara' s and Rens' patience and consistancy is what she needs.

Juanita M ......if you look back to Bella’s first videos and compare them to this video, you’ll see she’s already begun to put on weight thanks to the sugar beets! At the breeder’s, Bella lived in pasture with very little grass, mostly dirt/mud. Grazing in this paddock will be a real blessing for Bella! 💕💕💕🐴💕💕💕
