I truly appreciate that you were honest about the Elitefts bar even though you’re a Rep affiliate. Dave Tate actually says they don’t want knurling on the Swiss bar so you can make minor adjustments much easier. The grip is perfect with chalk. Referenced from Table Talk episode 115. Also, the Kadillac bar is like a designer product, don’t feel bad about it not being the best lol

I like the Elite bar as well but I want this bar for seal rows more than anything. It looked like the offset part of the Elite bar may not be wide enough the clear the width of the bench (I have 2 Rogue benches)? Also not sure how you can sleep at night knowing you have that incredible gym to go to. Very envious...

Yeah I've got the Kabuki, and the elite fts bar, and I prefer the fts bar too. I've got a Rep rack, and the Kabuki is a focused rerack, and the wide grip which is the grip I use for flat bench is just a little too wide on the Kabuki. Also the fts has a great close grip, and the Kabuki bar doesn't even have one like you pointed out. The only time when not having a knurl on the fts comes into play for me is when I use it for hammer curls. So completely agree with your assessment.

The Kaddillac is more known because of the folklore around it and it's prestige of being one of the original bars. Respect to Chris for designing it but it lacks some functionality like close grip and the outer grips are too wide for most and is wide and bulky to handle. REP's bar was very thought out and well designed and for the price is unbeatable.

Great review! A ton of effort and time. Would you prefer the elite FTS bar over the rep due to more cambered grip options? My only hesitancy about the rep bar is having only one grip to utilize the extra depth. thank you for all your amazing content!
@MacStrengthCo Жыл бұрын
I prefer the overall build quality on the Rep bar and the more I train with it the more I like it. The curved or cambered depth thing is kind misleading because any grip narrower than your shoulders you sorta hit your body before gaining more depth. The elite bar is nice too and offers some great grip options but doesn’t have nice sleeves and the handles are smooth. Anything wider than the rep handles seemed to irritate my shoulders on the other bars. Buy what you like but hope this adds so insight. Cheers!🤙🏼

Great points on the Titan. I just picked one up used, because I wanted to get a multi grip in my training while debating a more pricey cambered. @@samrmills I didn't like the Kabuki enough to make that a top choice, It doesn't have narrow grip and I found it's wide grips too wide for my frame. @MacStrengthCo2 жыл бұрын
Personally to use a cambered bar for anything other than bench is really reaching outside what it’s designed for. Lat pull attachments are cheap and plentiful to find and do a far better job. Most of the companies over sell equipment by showing you countless movements that it can do but I’m reality they aren’t practical. I’m not trying to sell you anything so I just call it how I see it. @jessedubon51762 жыл бұрын
Interesting that you said the Rep handle positions were spot on for you and that the widest grip on the Elite caused discomfort, but then give the nod to Elitefts 🤔. Elitefts offers two versioms of their cambered bar, angled and neutral. Like you stated, a more neutral position is more comfortable the further out you go. If that widest handle creates stress, then youd have to get a second bar to have the same benefit as the Rep, putting the combined cost in the Kabuki realm. That was the very reason that I never pulled the trigger on either of the Elitefts cambered bars, even though I’m actually a fan of Elite. Plus it’s free shipping right now, but normally its almost 100 more that Rep with shipping included. Really wanted a Kadillac bar, but couldnt swallow the cost. When I saw that Rep solved my perceived issue of the American Cambered Bars, it was a no brainer for me. The Rep feels perfect to me; cant imagine wanting more of an angle on those last handles.
@MacStrengthCo2 жыл бұрын
Great comment and I think I mention in the video I would leave my outer grip issue out of my final opinion as it may just be my shoulder mobility and not an issue for most. I pick the REP bar overall but with Elite FTS offering "free shipping" on that cambered bar I couldn't help but consider it for people that don't have the tighter rep racks. As it's an awesome bar too. Thanks for the feedback and support. Cheers, Rylan

I know this video is a little older, but being the Elite FTS bar is now $315 and the REP bar is $289, do you think there is a quality difference between them? I like the square tubing on the FTS, and understand the rack issues. I don’t care about the knurling, do you think one is better made overall? The REP looks like a great bar, the the actual round tubes used to make it look cheap, that’s just my opinion. If you had to buy one today, if price didn’t matter, which one would you choose, Elite or REP? Thanks, great videos

Having used the REP bar for longer now and I even own new ROGUE MG-4 which I have a review/comparison coming next weekend. Quite honestly the REP bar is my recommendation. The Elite FTS bar has better handle variations but the REP bar has nicer chrome sleeves and the handle placement is perfect in my opinion. The round tubing is really nice in hand and gives the bar a nice balanced feel because it puts the majority of the weight into the sleeves instead of the frame. Hope this helps! cheers brotha!

Thanks for the review! I am torn between the Rep bar and the Kadillac bar. If reducing pain after shoulder surgery and preventing further injury is the primary concern (take price completely out of the equation), which bar would be the best? Also consider, after surgery on both shoulders and getting old, I’ll probably never bench over 275lbs.
@MacStrengthCo Жыл бұрын
Well the kaddilac bar is large and the most cumbersome to use, think of it as a bar built for serious athletes and foot ball players. It's worth every penny and well built but when I want to train and get the job done I grab my REP bar more often. I have found these bars don't fix shoulders. I had to do that with bands and rehab techniques. Now Im back flat bar benching pain free even after a tear last year. The cambered bars offer a great alternative accessory to your training which is great to have. One more thing to note, the widest handle on the Kabuki are next to unusable for most people with any real weight on them. Just too wide. REP's I can put 225 and use any handle pain free. Kabukis also doesn't have close grip which (my opinion) is crucial reason for having one of these bars. IF you have endless money Rogue's is the only bar with adjustable handles to suit your body mechanics if you have money to spare. Hope that helps. cheers!

Appreciate the review, sir! A thought though: the feedback (on the REP bar) of the eye loop for the lat pulldown is a bit misleading, sir... if you will never use it - that's fine - but to say that you wouldn't use that feature "because the bar is 70+ long..." is misleading to your audience - as the sleeves can (and should) be removed, if you're going to it for lat pulldown. With sleeves removed, you have a much smaller width/footprint, and it's more than usable for lat pulldowns. thanks for listening
@MacStrengthCo2 жыл бұрын
I love the feedback and appreciate your comment. No argument from me the sleeves off would be much more manageable but here's my thoughts. 1. The engineers from REP intended the bar to be used with the sleeves attached. I would be foolish to recommend my followers do something unsafe. I know the hardware wasn't intended for repeated torquing and would take an educated guess the nuts would fail at some point. 2. In the time to mess around with those bolts and sleeves I could've done my entire pulldown workout. I know when stuff is overly complicated it doesn't happen. Let's face it saving time is the one of the reasons we build home gyms 3. Pulldown attachments are very cheap and abundant to find without breaking the bank. My BOS bar has a similar eyebolt and I have yet to use it ever! My experience and opinion might differ from others which is completely fine! Thank you thank you for the response and discussion. Fantastic point!

Great video! I'm a 40 yo home gym owner and have recently began having shoulder pain in my left shoulder when benching, so decided it was time to get a multi grip bar. Your comparison video helped a ton, and I've narrowed it down to the Rep and the Elite FTS options. I own a Rouge rack, FWIW. My question is this: which bar's grips widths do you prefer? l have a fairly wide shoulder base (18.5 inch biacromial width), and you appear to have a pretty wide shoulder base as well. Which set of grips do you use for standard bench work, and how do they compare? Do you find either of the inner grips too close for comfortable close grip bench? I'm almost thinking they'll be better suited for skull crushers, etc, for me. The 15 inch 2nd set of grips on Elite FTS may be better suited for close grip work for me. Thanks for your time and for the video. new subscriber here!

Thanks for the reply. First check out my new video on the ROGUE bar if you get bored as I put it against the REP bar just came out today. I have destroyed shoulders and struggle with pain and mobility also. I've found the REP bar feels best all around where I can use all the handles on it. The Elite fts bar and Kabuki the outer handles are too wide to use safely. I liked the Elite Fts mid grip handles but having used the REP bar for months now it's my go to. Elite's sleeves are lackluster and the lack of knurling has me using the REP bar. Will these bars cure our shoulder pain. Not really honestly. It helps but the best thing I've found is just taking a long break from regular bench press and using dumbbells along with a good stretching program. Also look into the Kabuki shoulder rok. That has helped me a ton with my shoulders. I have a review on it. let me know if you have anymore questions and train hard! cheers, Rylan

I bought the EliteFTS American Grip Cambered Bar. Guess I lucked out. Because I didn't test it, or any of the others, in advance.
@MacStrengthCo2 жыл бұрын
I really liked that bar especially when it was on sale. The extra set of grips to me was a big bonus. I personally use the REP bar and it's similar but nicer sleeves.

I wonder foe the cambered bars since the bar is cambered if for curls and skull crushers if it would feel weird and unbalanced since the plates are "lower" then the center handles? Would love to get people comments on this
@MacStrengthCo Жыл бұрын
Good question. I tend to use my curl bar for skull crushers because it's just smaller in size and easier to handle laying down.

Knurling... a replacement for grip strength.
@MacStrengthCo2 жыл бұрын
The top bars don’t have knurling. I found it unnecessary but nice to have. Rogues 28mm handles are too skinny for cambered work.

Surprised you compared the Titan multi grip bar to those other Cambered bars instead of the Titan Cambered bar. Big difference in my opinion.

Great point but I've had more issues with Titan lately and am hesitant to buy anything from them after years of problems.

@@MacStrengthCo I don't blame you. I only one the Camber bar and SSB bar myself. My biggest factor was price point on those 2 items. And they get the job done, but I've been hesitant to buy anything else. That's why I appreciate your take on the bars. Thanks.

Hi, How do you make measurement with angled handles? a) shortest air distance between handles b) longest air distance between handles c) air distance between middle points of handles I think that answer would be useful for review. Thank you :)

The industry standard on all bars is the middle of the handles. Figured that was common sense.🤷🏼♂️

For me, I have wrist joint injury history rather than shoulder. Do these cambered bars and/or angled grip add to the stress on wrists during presses or lessen compared to a barbell or flat swiss bar?
@MacStrengthCo2 жыл бұрын
Good question. To each their own but I found it less stress on my wrists because of the wider diameter grips on the REP bar for example. The 90* felt best on wrists vs angled. Hope that helps.

have you seen/used the new Rogue camber bar with extra handles that you can adjust and buy extra of?
@MacStrengthCo2 жыл бұрын
The Rogue bar has some downsides for me to show interest. It’s very expensive for an accessory bar. The handles are very skinny, the bar itself is too wide to properly rack in a REP rack and I prefer the 5” shorter handles for stability.

@@MacStrengthCo soon after posting i found your instagram (liked and subscribed) and the chart you included with it added. thanks for the great info. i have been looking for a camber bar so your info really helped. i will probable start with the titan camber (not flat) as its price and quality fits very well with my home gym setup, i do like the idea behind the rogue how you can have and move the handles.

how did you measure the handle spacing? Middle of the handle, nearest end, or furthest end?

They are all measured from middle of the handle.

@MacStrengthCo2 жыл бұрын
@@futbol1972 What I found is the skinnier the handles the harder on your wrist. 32mm handles or larger are the best for wrist comfort. Avoid anything 28mm completely.

Is there enough clearance to perform chest supported rows on the ab5200 with the elitefts? I’ve been using my power bar but it hits the bench
@MacStrengthCo2 жыл бұрын
It wouldn’t be ideal. Your better off with a bench pad across your rack spotter arms for more clearance. I use dumbbells mostly for supported rows.

Why didn’t you evaluate the Titan cambered swiss bar?
@MacStrengthCo2 жыл бұрын
Honestly I’m over dealing with Titan and their customer service. The main reason for using that flat bar was to showcase the depth difference. Titan's cambered bars are similar in dimensions which was the problem with the flat bar so they would rate similar in feel.

@MacStrengthCo2 жыл бұрын
Fair question. Just didn't want to buy one honestly it's not something that appeals to me after seeing the quality of the flat version. For $80 more you can buy the REP bar which is a much nicer bar. My followers wanted to see the difference between a flat bar and cambered for the actual depth so that's why I added it in.

The Kabuki looks like it would really hurt if you hit your chest too hard being how thin the steel frame is where it makes contact with your body. Kabuki Overrated & Overpriced….I would pick the Rep because of the wide straight grip option. No reason for angles out that wide.
@MacStrengthCo2 жыл бұрын
The thin frame has been a big complaint about the Kabuki. For me it was more the lack of narrow handles and the widest handles are too wide. Paying that much for a 2 handle cambered bar is a hard pill to swallow. Plus it's wide and not as balanced.
