Just ran across these build videos, and have to say they inspired me to how I want to set up my Gladiator. I wanted something I can easily take on and off for local vs long distance driving as you mentioned in your first vidow of this build. You solved the issues that most of these have with a very simple easy to build setup,. Now to CAD up a setup to fit with my Gladiator and maybe some Roto packs and hi-lift mount as well. Saves me from building a whole bumper or buying a $2500 Setup... looking forward to other build videos

@@RathaSochenda I bought the plans. Where it says (Item No. 1 Decscription: SWING OUT MAIN FRAME Part: TC-4RUNNER03-09 Qty 1 Cost ~$80) I'm guessing that's just noting how much the metal will cost to build the frame? That's the only thing I haven't ordered because I plan to buy the metal locally.
@RathaSochenda
@RathaSochenda 2 жыл бұрын
@@carportmods Yeah cost and material availability will be depend on location. And yes this will be the total cost for the raw steel metal for the "frame". Yes I would call around locally as it will most likely give you the best prices.

Hey Ratha! Sweet build man, I’m following the plans and currently have most of it build. When I tighten the nut to push the anti wobble piece up to lock it in place and forward the right side still drops. I did have to extend the overall length because my rear door is side opening and needed to clear. Any thoughts on how to fix it?
@RathaSochenda
@RathaSochenda Жыл бұрын
I would try tightening the anti wobble nut to 125lbs then rock the swing arm up and down then retighten then will help get rid the of slack inside the tow hitch. Also when your doing this make sure your hitch pin lock is in place. That helps too. Also to fine tune you can also lay a few tacks on the anti wobble tube on the left and right side. Then sand down the tacks until the fitment is tight on left and right side. Doing this helps get rid of any slop on the right and left side of the antiwobble when installed in the factory tow hitch.

Thanks! I’m glad the video helped. The only measurements that will need to be dial in in will be the 3 main dimension i mention in the part 1. It’s just matter of lengths. Could you please comment on your custom hinge? Is it smooth enough to just have bushings on either sides of the bolt? I've seen people using bearings and dust caps. Thanks in advance.
@RathaSochenda
@RathaSochenda 2 жыл бұрын
The hinge uses oilite self lubricated bearings that have a tight tolerance when pair with the 1” bolt. Which means there is little to no slop in the hinge. It created also a smooth motion when the arm is swinging it out without any grinding noises or feel. However Having bearings and grease will probably be more durable and give you that buttery smooth action over these. But for me it’s ok because I don’t mine some resistance as this will help reduced the chance of this accidentally swinging out if I were to unlatch the car on hill or something. Also some resistance could be good as you also don’t want it to easily swingout beyond a point where the wheel can smash into the of your car. Still it doesn’t require much effort at all to swing these out with theses bushings. Anyways just my .02.
