safety nut goes on the inside because the large nut is suppose to relive the stress of the small nut.

s/v Ship of Dreams additionally by adding that much torque on the nut one quarantees that the thread will be deformed.

Not in this case Joni. I think the confusion is coming from the application. In a situation where you are tightening a a nut against a material, you are right, you would use the material, then the jam nut, then a standard finish nut. However, in the application in the video, it's all about creating a free spinning fastener assembly by tightening the two nuts against each other, the order won't matter because there is no third force acting on the two nuts. They are only tightening against each other.

wow, this tower is looking flimsy! i'm sure it's engineered out, but still! if it were me, i'd use "blue" locktite on all those nuts. my WELDED 70' tower is on my channel if anyone would like to see it. far beefier!

I know this video is 10 years old, and I really like the information and the way you delivered it in layman's language. BUT! Those are NOT lag bolts! Hex head bolts, yes. Lag bolts screw into wood and don't use nuts. It drives me crazy everytime i re-watch this. (Finally getting ready to erect mine!)

Remember, when you put yours up, don't forget to tighten the lag bolts.

They should use the right wrenches for the job not fucking Cresent wrenches.

But, if you notice, they are both left handed, so a right wrench would be difficult.

That thing you are calling a gin pole is not a gin pole, that’s a falling derrick. The thing you are calling a locking carabiner isn’t a locking carabiner, that is a quick link. That thing you are calling a tower, that’s a mast. 🙄
