We turn this 5 mtr plate alloy centre console into the ultimate all-round fishing machine for estuary, bay and offshore. An unreal feature is hidden under the large casting deck along with a host of other cool ideas and products throughout the boat. Powered by Suzuki DF115B outboard, this boat gets mind blowing fuel economy with excellent performance. Sitting on the dash is a 12 inch Furuno TZ3 multifunction display and the new Furuno FCV-800 chirp sounder. Under the console is revolution power Australia lithium battery set up with a full Victron energy networked system. A lot of thought has gone into this boat making it the ultimate all-round 5 mtr boat.

Great video and awesome build process, well thought out to suit your needs. Be great to get an estimate on boat purchase, outboard cost and general refurb bill. Most people don’t understand the cost to complete these works and also under estimate the cost of a new build. Would be a great ball park for people who are unsure if the should try and complete what you’ve done, build with a plate boat builder or just buy off the shelf. Once again great build and really helps people understand what goes into a boat build 👍

Hull, 25 to 30k, outboard 18k, custom alloy trailer 8k, Minnkota 5k- thats already around 60k so now add electronics, Lithium set up, stereo, switches, floor coverings etc etc and it blows out pretty fast. There's a reason we are seeing big dollars on small boats these days.

I think I might have added a Epirb somewhere in easy reach on the console, with hydrostatic release, so in a worst case scenario it’s easily in reach and if worst happens, floats free so you can deploy it while your up to your nuts treading water. Same with a Fire Extinguished. Lastly, if it were mine I’d have a folding T top for shade in the sub tropics, and folds down for easy storage in a shed and low wind resistance while towing. I do like the design of the hull with high sides. Would be nicer again if it were another half a meter longer. You’ve done a lot to it. Would be helpful to others planning something similar if you said what $ you’ve got into it, after the 70hp motor & Dunbier Trailer were sold off & you added the 115 Suzy. Trim tabs would be good. Needs an air horn, life ring, first aid kit, positive buoyancy foam filled if not already, bilge pumps, gas sniffer & bilge blower if it has underfloor fuel tank. Nav lights etc. Maybe a little too much attention to “ultimate fishing weapon” & not enough attention to “safety / get me home alive, when it all turns to sh!t”. But you have time to get it right. With a T top you could have 24 mile radar for eg for finding your way in thick fog & locating bird flocks diving on bait balls offshore. Keep at it, don’t rest on your laurels, with what you’ve already achieved, there’s still room for a part 3 of the build, addressing all the stuff that most tyro fishing wannabes overlook in the way of safety gear that keeps everyone alive. All the fish caught in the world are of no value if you drowned catching them. I prefer my boat trips like my aeroplane & helicopter rides, two ways, there & back. I swum home once from 7kms offshore. You only need do it once to change your perspective on what’s important in a boat and what’s not. 😉

I'm always interested in how good, experienced fishos set up their 4th or 5th boat, and yours had lots of gems. What a weapon! I loved the seat back/lean post, the esky in the top of the kill tank, and of course the very versatile sleeping arrangement. Well done Greg. I can only imagine the hours and days of thought that went into each little design, but gees didn't it come up well! I'm glad you took it out in the rough stuff too. How did you rate the ride for both harshness and dryness? Probably a bit late now, but in future videos if you could tell us what you had in your old boat and how you upgraded or solved those problems with what you have now, that would be great. Maybe also other solutions that didn't end up getting the nod and why. I'm a details man 😉 BTW, Nyalic is easy to repair if any fuel melts a patch. I've been using it for alloy bullbars, and lots of other marine corrosion prevention projects for over 40 yrs. Happy Fishing for 2024 and beyond.

Hey Tez, thanks heaps mate, I'm glad you liked it as much as I did. For a 5 mtr boat it rides very well and pretty dry too. I've had it in some ordinary conditions and it handles it better than I thought a boat of that size would. There wasn't much I left off this build other than trim tabs and a T-top. Tabs were price thing and T-top gets in the way of filming with shadows etc but these things can be added down the track if I want them. I agree about Nyalic mate. I've had to redo a couple small spots and it's a very easy process. Touching areas with sun cream is the biggest issue I'm having with it at present. It's acts like paint stripper. Thanks again mate.

Very nice layout and fairly dry as well by the look of it. You can maybe add a little cubby on the back of that removable seat backrest for lures etc. for easy access or another pad and then you don't have to reverse it when in front and if you put a pivot on the bottom of the seat and a stopper you can flip it over for a back facing seat when trolling

Mate congratulations on this truly gorgeous boat! the attention to detail is second to none!! I do have one question though mate. it may be bit silly sorry🙄 Regarding the fuel economy with the dash cluster showing 3km per Litre at that 4000 rpm. Is that fuel economy just purely based off engine rpm? or is that cluster connected to GPS? reason I say this is for example if your trim is terrible and weight is badly positioned on the boat how can just engine rpm alone give that figure? lets say your doing it all wrong for example and doing 4000 rpm but only getting 18 knots but then you trim and shift weight then get 21 knots with no rpm change that would be better fuel economy right. So I guess my long winded question hahah is , is GPS involved with that fuel economy in that dash cluster?
@gregswickedfishing
@gregswickedfishing Жыл бұрын
Thanks John glad you liked it mate. The suzi gauge is connected to a gps source which in my case is networked through my Furuno TZ3. It combines this data with real time fuel flow on the outboard to give you a range of fuel economy data. Its very accurate as confirmed when filling up at the pump. Cheers

The monitoring system is good bit i feel the installer have over sold it. That system only works with a phone if the phone is nearby. If the boat is in the garage and you want to check the batteries, you have to go near the boat. I know this because i DIY my trailer using about the same system.
@gregswickedfishing
@gregswickedfishing 11 ай бұрын
Not sure how this was over sold mate. The system and and the way it works makes perfect sense to me. I only want to see the system when I'm fishing or near the boat anyway. With the Cerbo that's added and some other additions you can make this information viewable at all times but this isn't something I find one bit necessary.

What hull is this?? Im about to look around for a c.console after selling my Savage Mako after 25 yrs.. I kind of only know about Stacer outlaws and Qiuintrex c.c.. Im guessing 4.8mtrs .. how much would an entry level set me back..

It's an older Offshore Marine Master Hull. Any custom plate boat in that size will set you back around 30k plus just for a bare hull.

Mate it has a pretty big Bimini top for family trips or super hot days. I almost went a T top but I'd rather fish with nothing so it doesn't get in the way particularly for causing shadows while filming

You're kidding.... stretching that claim even with USD maybe..... In 1999. And If you did all the work yourself in your backyard. In Australia.... This would be $60,000-$70,000 minimum once you factor labour for all the custom work done.

As i might have mentioned previously, pricing it is really hard as I had help from lots of different companies and did a lot of work myself. A hull like that would be 30k to get built, Alloy Trailer 8k, Outboard 18k and then the fitout. As you can see it adds up mighty fast.
