The lower torque engine mount has to be one of the most overlooked mounts ever, it rarely gets featured but serves a critical role nonetheless.

Yea, for sure. They didn't put there for no reason. Thanks for watching.

Question: do you lower the jack before you torque any of the bolts for any of the mounts? I mean you snug them and then lower the jack and then torque the bolts on any of the mounts? Or can you still leave the jack under and torque? Just curious because I'm getting ready to do this to my 2008 Civic. By the way your videos are really good. Thanks for doing this

Thanks for watching, I torqued the bolts with the jack underneath, then lowered after it was torqued. Good luck, pretty straight forward job. If you have anymore question(s), just ask. Please hit the like and subscribe button. Thanks again for watching.

Another question. What the best way to get to this? It looks like you're going from the side. Did you jack up the front of the car with jacks and then removed the right side tire to get to it? I'm trying my best not to have to crawl under the car from the front. Did you have a jack stand on the right at the pinch weld? Out of all the vids, I like yours the best bc i don't feel like getting crushed to death. lol

Yes jack up the vehicle from the front. Place jack stands on pinch weld. On both sides. Remove front right tire. Place tire under vehicle behind jack stand on passenger side as added safety.

@@gilbosdiy Now it's time to tackle the side mount and upper strut mount. Little more complex and a little more nerve-wracking but I think I can do it. It's the supporting the engine part that concerns me the most.

Is it necessary to put the jack under the motor ? I’ve seen it isn’t. I changed the motor mount on upper passenger side. Also where did you put your jack stands?
@gilbosdiy8 ай бұрын
Yes, you should put a jack with a piece of wood, just in case the engine drops a little. You should place the jack stands on the jack points of your particular vehicle. If you are unsure of the exact jack point. Check in the owners manual. Thanks for watching, if you have anymore question(s), just ask, and I'll try and help. I have a 2007 civic coupe, it shakes on idle , which mount should i change?😅😅😅
@gilbosdiy3 ай бұрын
If, I only had to pick 1 of the 3 videos. I'd say change the mounts in part 1 of the 3 part series, which is the passenger side mount, and top torque rod. That passenger mount tends to be the trouble maker of the bunch to cause shaking. In all seriousness, you probably need all of them changed. Use all 3 videos, and change them out all yourself, in one day. Safe yourself a bunch of money.

@@gilbosdiy I tend to agree. Once a mount loses its stiffness, a lot of movement and vibration is introduced onto the other mounts and they will wear out much quicker than they usually would. I'd change them all at the same time.
@gilbosdiyАй бұрын
@@La_Vi_ That's the thing with motor mounts. Doesn't matter, if your vehicle has 2, 3, or 4 mounts. They are all in use. Change them all at once.

What was the problem coming in the car due to this bad mount??
@gilbosdiy Жыл бұрын
We had vibration when at red light. Main culprit was the passenger motor mount and upper torque Then the transmission side mount. Last, the lower torque rod. Now all smooth.
