Victoria Mcfarlane That is exactly how I found this channel and Alex. I have loved how respectful he has treated the family and gave Mary back her dignity. What a wonderful legacy to uncover in the house. Alex, his family and friends have been a true delight. All the characters they picked up along this journey has just made it just that much more delightful. Carmine’s quiet demeanor and Hans’ laughter and zest for life were just a beautiful balance. I feel like I was just as much a part of this adventure as anyone who was actually there. This is by far the most anticipated videos I have ever watched. My hat is off to Alex and his family.

I can't believe how much beautiful art may have been lost forever, had you not bought that House! Also you helped bring Mary back to the spotlight. If you Google her name, most of what is said about her, refers back to you. You definitely did a great service to the world of art!

Mary's son and daughter were so overwhelmed with the house that they had originally planned to donate it to the local fire department as a training burn then have the property cleared. So glad they called Alex first. This is so common with many families. My in-laws are hoarders (Iowa) and we're not looking forward to when that day comes when these decisions will have to be made. Hopefully Alex will still be around to give him a call. :) note: There's a near factory condition '63 Chevy Impala coupe under a tarp in their barn and enough spare parts to build another one or two.

LIBICU812 . Wow. I had missed seeing that information about burning the house. I can’t imagine that the family ever shared those plans with Mary, but how poignant that she passed when she knew the house and its contents were safe. You couldn’t blame Mary’s children , it was totally overwhelming. My mother was incredibly neat and tidy, and didn’t have many possessions, but my sister now has a few items of our mum’s vintage clothing, from the late 1940s. Mum kept them until she died, in the early 90s. All three of her children, including me, have a lot of clothes. More than we realistically need. I have started to get rid of mine to charity, and I’m trying not to add what I don’t need.

I can't fault Mary's children for selling the house as it was. It was physically exhausting for a stranger to clean it out, her family would have gone through that plus the emotional stress of downsizing almost a hundred years of memories. It had to be bittersweet for her children and grandchildren to watch. To see some things removed and lost yet other things restored. And I am sure some anguish at wondering if the right thing was done. Alex, I don't agree with everything you did, but you made important decisions for the place that were too big for some others. It got harder the more you connected to Mary through her belongings, and that hooked me to your channel. This show displayed the human condition, whether you meant it or not. The show started out as an adventure, but morphed into something much more triumphant.

Alex also said the children are in their 70s, so that was probably a big factor. I’m sure they didn’t have the strength and stamina it would have taken physically to do it.

_in my eye Yeah...I‘m moving in autumn....I‘m starting to sort through and get rid of as much as possible NOW. Will also already do some minor renovations I‘m responsible for, before it gets hot...because I don’t want to have to do them in a hurry, when the move is near. Stuff like that takes a lot of time and energy...especially, if you do them on a budget. Can’t imagine, having to deal with a house in that condition under time pressure 😲

What an unexpected turn of events that started with "I'm going to dig for treasures in a hoarders house...". Absolutely awesome, Alex. I could go on and on about your character, ethics and hard work, etc, but that would just be like saying "Yeah, what they all said!" So I will just say, Nice work, Sir! I've enjoyed every minute. Thank You! I found out today that my youngest daughter (28) has an interest in pottery. I was showing her the Potters House series (skimming through some highlights) to introduce her to one of my favorite You Tube channels. I had given her a quick rundown of Curiosity Inc. earlier, over lunch. The first time she heard "Mary Borgstrom" , she exclaimed "OH! I've heard of her! This is about her?". She knew a little bit about Mary and her work. As it turns out, a friend of hers has one of Marys pieces and had talked a bit about Mary. We had to preempt our preview of your videos so she could go through the entire auction of Marys pieces. She signed up and placed a couple of bids. Now, she's hooked. Not just the Potters House series, but all of your adventures. She's already contemplating a trip to Edmonton from Ohio, LOL.

I especially love that you showed Mary's pottery in this episode. She was really remarkable. So many different styles. I've been wondering why so many people are drawn to this story? I think it's symbolic of a person's life... People have so many layers to them.. We are created in the image of God. Each of us has depth, richness, beauty, and creativeness. Sometimes the world only sees the outside without getting to know what lies underneath... In the case of Mary, people could have just seen her house, her hoard and never saw her deeper beauty, the brilliant artist.... Sometimes you have to uncover the treasure to see that beauty! That's why, I believe, people are so drawn to this series. Mary's left a beautiful legacy for us all to enjoy.⚱️

Mary Borgstrom was an incredible woman - an artist whose work was a reflection of the earth around her. I never tire of looking at the pieces of Canadian art history that you have so carefully saved. I was watching your channel with pleasure because I, too, was an atiques and collectibles dealer for about 10 years and I can relate. However, since you started in on this wonderful old house I have been glued to each video. Thank you, and thanks to your family, for allowing your subscribers to go along on this incredible adventure.

Alex you have done an amazing job renovating the "Potters" house and an amazing job documenting it all for use to enjoy. I have looked forward to every single video. You are a wonderful story teller doing what you love to do. The Potters house series could have very easily been a program for TV you are talented in many areas. Thank you for sharing this journey with us. I look forward to whatever new adventure you have in the near future. Just so happy that you saved that beautiful house and preserved Mary's legacy. You, your family, everyone involved in the project and Mary's family just has to be so proud and happy with end results.

I'm very proud of you! I've been watching since the first episode and you've done an absolutely unbelievable job. I'm watching from Missouri. My house was built in the 1920's and is a "catalogue house". Everything needed, down to even the nails, was shipped in by train. I would love to restore it to its original beauty. Again, I'm very proud of the job you and your crew have done!

The good soul of Mary resonates and dances in every room, and you added your own bright spirit too. How wonderful to see all the before/after footage, and then to see all the art you pulled from the wreckage! To think it could have been lost!! It's been an amazing experience to watch, and thank you for saving this bit of history. Thanks for also giving employment to some locals in a small town. "House Proud" has so much more meaning here. Kudos to you, Alex, to your family and everyone who worked their magic for Mary. 💕

This is a wonderful video, and testament to the mammoth undertaking you took on in saving Mary Borgstrums house and contents. To think of it just being razed to the ground would have been a travesty. Your concern for rescuing, recycling, and upcycling means some real treasures were saved. The financial burden on your family over the past 3 months must have been very worrying, and some of us supported your Go Fund because it looked like an impossible task for you to take on. You can now been proud of all your efforts in dealing with Marys untimely death, and your decision to share the auction profits. The house now looks glorious, and I hope it sells quick so that you can recoup your expenses, and open a new store. Thank you for all your efforts in filming and sharing this experience, we are all awaiting the next new adventure ! 💖🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧💖

Alex, Thank you for giving Mary back to the world. Her vision and beauty were misunderstood and hidden by layers of great intentions that lacked the time needed to implement their completion. You respected her artistry and vision and gave her peace so that she could live her final days with dignity, secure in the knowledge that her trip in the ambulance was just the beginning of her story being told. You had the courage to pull that lump of clay from beneath the earth and let it direct your hands until the hidden was revealed. You changed so many lives through a series of courageous acts. You deserve the accolades but you challenge us all with your humility. You prove that you can do well by doing good. Thank you for giving us Mary and for sharing the beautiful family you are creating With the piles of trash found on KZbin, you are the potter's house. We are so lucky to have found you. I think Mary's final act was to give us you so that you could give Mary to the world. Much love and respect. --Jimmy Pepe -
