I am the youngest of 6 and we all had a Velvet tin for our allowance. My dad had them in a Strongbox and once a month on a Saturday he would take his wallet and and with a big sigh he would open his wallet and hand us our money and we would put it in our tins lol. It would get locked up until next time we went to town and we could ask to take some money for a treat. When he passed away we opened the Strongbox and all the kids took their tin home. ❤

Wanted to write the same :) Also, in case of magazines, it would make sense to group them by decades or even 5 year periods, as people sometimes look for particular style and would rather buy "61-65 knitting magazine bundle" then "box of knitting magazines".

Part of my (self-imposed) mental health treatment for the last twenty years has been to look for marbles in the creeks near my house. I usually find at least part of one every time I go out. My dog hates it but he doesn't get a say in the matter.

The screened metal things with the sliding lid are popcorn makers to use in your fireplace or bonfire embers. We had one when I was a kid. Also, the two brushes in a case are men's hair brushes. You would use both of them at the same time. My dad had a set of those until he didn't have enough hair to brush anymore. LOL

Truck Ruts To Road: I've had many driveway put in over the years, using road gravel. What I was shown early on is that if you lay down "Road Paper" first, it stops the gravel from getting lost in the mud and you use much less gravel. What we call Road Paper here in the Pacific Northwest is like an industrial size and weight Garden Fabric Cloth. It comes on huge rolls that get cut to length at our local Rock & Landscaping supply company. It's available here for 12 and 20' wide driveways and is strong enough for the Dump Truck to back over as they start the run to pour and spread gravel. The gravel gets "suspended" on top of the paper and locks in to make the drive, with out being lost over time in the soft ground. I just roll it out before the dump truck arrives and hold the corners and edges down with bricks or rocks, until the gravel gets dumped to hold it in place. It doubles as a weed barrier, so grass doesn't grow up through the gravel. 🙂

I'm retired in Mexico's Baja. I used to go antiquing in southern Ontario back in the 80s, and I'm disabled now. There are a few second-hand places here that go up to Long-Beach, CA wholesalers and bring stuff back, but nothing like up there. I used to have all that kitchen stuff. It's been over 100 for two weeks here, so we are hunkered down in the a/c.

" making plastic seem more valuable " reminded me of something that happened years ago, in the late 80s or early 90s. We were in northern California, in the redwoods. I think, actually, we were at the trees of mystery. Its an area that has a small trail that takes you past various redwood trees that have some sort of anamoly to them---- anyway, we were in the giftshop, and it had earrings on cards. These earrings were generaly gemstones and would have on them, " genuine garnet", or " genuine moonstone", etc. Well imagine my surprise when i found a card with earrings that were small, clear cubes. On said earrings was written, " genuine lucite" like lucite was a gemstone or something. Its just plastic.

Lucite is a brand name of an acrylic -- so likely they had to put the name on it due to copyright. Lucite is the most superior acrylic. Plain plexiglass type acrylic is less clear, easy to etch with household cleaners, brittle. Lucite is clear and super sparkly. :)

I had some comments to my earlier comment. THANKS! I'm so sorry. I must have sounded critical, but I didn't mean to be. I only commented about the camera work because he mentioned the tripod in his haul and that he didn't like using them. That's the only reason I made my comment...thinking I might be of help LOL! I mentioned maybe going "hands free" because I see he sometimes gets a little frustrated trying to open a container with one hand while holding the phone in the other. I get a real kick seeing everything he does because he truly knows and appreciates what he finds. Very fun and educational for me. I also like that he has real supporters :-)
