It’s the quilted vibe that was very popular in the ‘80’s. I had a ceramic hippo bank with the same texture.

Patchwork/quilted pig was my first thought when you unmoulded it, so I was so happy to see you do that! It’s my favourite! They’re all so cute! I think Jeff Koons is the one who made the balloon animal sculptures famous, but I love Brett Kern’s inflatable dinosaurs. I’ve wanted one for years!

The little quilted soft toy piggies are adorable! Even when you don't love it, you make the best of it, and I admire that. Your ability to keep going is inspiring. There were a lot of this type of stuffed animal / soft toy type decorations when I was younger. Compare your piggies designs to the creatures in something like Winnie the Pooh to get the idea - several of the animals were soft toys.

Popular in the late 80s early 90s. They were meant to be bisque fired only, painted with acrylic, then chalked(soft pastels) with a brush then sealed. There was a whole series from Duncan and Alberta's including nativity sets.

They are very cute. If you try the stiching again instead of using brown you could try using a colour that matches the colours you paint the piece. Quilting is less often a colour that stands out beyond the design, it would give a different look again.

Back in the 80s we mostly painted these after fire. We painted with acrylic paints and like you we tried to make them look like different pieces of fabric. Then we used antique wash to fill in the seams, wiping it back on the rest of the puexes to taste. There were so many molds of this style. My favorite was a easter bunny laying on his back cuddling a basket with a handle.

These "fabric' designs were popular in the 1980s. They were referred to as "Softees". Kimple/Alberta made an entire line of not just ornaments but figurines, banks, etc. The cutest is a series of reindeer and a Santa, IMHO. I was never fond of them, but you've managed to make them cute. They look nice in acrylics on bisque with a spray glaze. You can use stronger color. Most folks that paint them that way antique them so that the antiquing brings out those stitches/recesses that make them puffy looking. I love your series. Such a cool idea. I'm busy doing this with molds that I picked up as well, but I never thought to video the process/results.

Yes, patchwork style from the 80’s and 90’s. That patchwork look was the cottage core of it’s time. I made little pink wooden pigs whose snouts hung over a ledge. Little paper twist bows around the neck. Adorable then. Not so adorable now. I was crushed to hear they wouldn’t be glazed. Without the glaze, they look too like the 80-90 era style. Glazed, they’d look updated. Maybe do the stitching in a co-ordinating color. The black looks like the pig got wrapped up in barbed wire. I think they will be adorable when you get your big kiln. Your style, white background. Glazed. Sweet!

You could make a wire stand that goes into both holes and you could make it more stable that way. I like them but I wish they were rounder like I want them chunky not flat lol. I normally dont like underglaze without glaze but I think it really works for them because they look more like fabric. The small dotted stich lines work a lot better but the pink and blue pig is still cute, but patchwork pig is the winner.

I was VERY skeptical when you said you were going to add stitching details on the quilted one because I personally hated the line work on the pink and blue one, but I love the way it turned out!
