Great video as always. Speaking of specialty tools, I've had good luck in the past pulling bearings from wheels (where there is a spacer and you can't get puller jaws behind the bearing) by using an expanding concrete anchor. This is the kind with the sleeve on the outside that expands much the same way as the cam bearing puller tool you show here. The principle is the same- put the end of the concrete anchor in the bearing and tighten the nut until the sleeve expands. Then on a wheel, I'll flip the wheel over and run a punch or dowel through the other side to drive the anchor (and the bearing it is in) out of the wheel.

Hello Mike! I have 1961 Panhead. At some point in time someone installed solid lifters. I would like to have hydraulics as it originally had. Have got a set of velva Touch like you have on your Shovel if I remember correctly. The cam that was reccomended was the S&S 513G which will give .472 lift in a Pan. My riding style is cruising at low rpm. I think that cam may be too aggresive. What would you suggest? No brands, just cam spec. I concider Andrews EV27. Lift .455 for Pan. Thanks for great videos and all the knowledge you share.
@pacificmike95012 жыл бұрын
Velva Touch lifters usually include their own pushrods. EV stands for Evolution. Panhead and Evolution cams do not interchange. Picking a cam really does depend on the rest of your motor. Be sure your heads are set up for the lift you are wanting to install. Remember that Knucklehead, Panhead, Shovelhead, Evolution all have different rocker arm ratios. Not the time to mix this stuff up. There are a lot of mild cams available. Read about them in the supplier's catalogs.

@pacificmike95012 жыл бұрын
Couldn't tell at first, lots of paint. The heads are aftermarket. The cam cover was something I didn't really identify. I originally assumed wrong, it was an aftermarket motor. It has original 65 cases and now it will have its original cam cover.

Hey Mike, long time fan. Like to know how to get any videos you have on working on a 1981 super glide. I have taken all components off the frame, baged, tagged n picture of all steps from the tree back. To include the sway arm complete with tire. Like to see anything you have on my bike. Thank you
@pacificmike95012 жыл бұрын
Well, there are two Shovelheads I have used on the channel. One of them is my own '77, the other is one that I put the motor and trans together and then demonstrated it. That one is, a Superglide, mine is an FLH. If you go to our KZbin Home page and click on the word "Videos," you will find a bunch of pertinent videos.

Jaman, Amazon or E-bay. I have every specialty tool for Twin Cam, Evo, and most early Harley engines and transmission and wheels and frame, almost all were purchased online, the older model tools I bought at swap meets. Believe it or not, with the E-bay tools, quite a few are made in U.S.A. by Machinists and or tool makers for 1/3 the price of name brand which I won't mention.
@flshovelhead2 жыл бұрын
Jaman, the correct tool for the bearing installation tool is Jims USA Part # 2188. The bearing puller is Jims USA Part # 95760-TB. The tools work on '58 and up panheads, all shovelheads, and all evo engines. That's the tool that Mike was using in the video.
@pacificmike95012 жыл бұрын
The cam bearing tools are from Jim's Machine, sold by most all the major aftermarket suppliers. I wasn't trying to withhold information, other companies make them. Easy to locate on the Internet.
