The years I did not not use my tongues I was so sad and depressed as a Christian. I knew what Gods word said but, in the stress of life and not being around Spirit filled saints I forgot. When I started again my faith rose up. I had more of an interest in Gods word, seeking true fellowship, worship and praise on my own" not waiting for Church". My trust in the Lord rose. Just trusting what the word said. Not looking for reasons not to believe. Accepting the POWER promised. the Power to pray for others and see the answers come. The boldness to ask in prayer for my family to move out of where we were. Prayers I prayed years ago that I forgot I prayed where answered. And Joy Joy Joy. I think about God more and not the silly things in the world that use to control my mind and emotions. If Gods word tells us to "speak" WHY NOT SPEAK.....

This is a great teaching but I personally spoke in tongues supernaturally when I got the initial infilling of the Holy Ghost! It was absolutely wonderful! Afterwards, when I want to access my prayer language I just cut loose naturally where it's all under my control..... just like when God lit the fire in the old testament temple supernaturally then the Priests kept it going naturally.

I agree that all believers can pray in tongues, but that not all do. It is not a prerequisite for salvation, as some might claim. This enabling through the Spirit has allowed me to pray when I did not have the attention to spare. This has been especially true in times of danger, when I could not take my mind from the situation to pray about it!

They have been poorly taught if they think they have no control. In 1 Cor 14:28, Paul is addressing how things should be done so as to avoid disorder in the service. Paul says that if there is no interpreter, that the person should remain silent. (It would still be permissible to pray in tongues quietly, in this case.)

hi. I respect everything your saying, as a person who speaks tongues this is very educational. however, why do you emphasize God telling us he "wants every one of us to speak in tongues" when the Apostle Paul, is the one who is wrighting that in a letter to the church of corinth?...

Leo Nel because we believe that the bible is the word of God. And that the apostel Paul wrote it through the guidance of the Holy Spirit.

How do we grow as Christians and learn how to pray to God's if we pray in tongues and don't know what we are praying. I love the idea of having a prayer language but I'd love it more if the holy spirit would teach me the intricacies of how God wants us to pray.

How can we develop further the gift of speaking in tongues?
@rancox26511 жыл бұрын
He specifically said in the last video that we have control on when we wish to speak normally or in tongues. God doesn't take over our bodies. In essence, if you don't feel comfortable speaking in tongues, then don't do it.

I am very confused on this subject, as I keep reading or seeing you tube video, speaking in tongues is evil and woman should not do it, from what i read. How Do I know in my jibberish I am not saying something bad? also here is a few quotes from the bible, please explain. 1 Corinthians 14:23 - If therefore the whole church be come together into one place, and all speak with tongues, and there come in [those that are] unlearned, or unbelievers, will they not say that ye are mad? 1 Corinthians 14:39 - Wherefore, brethren, covet to prophesy, and forbid not to speak with tongues. 1 Corinthians 14:14 - Romans 8:26 - Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. For if I pray in an [unknown] tongue, my spirit prayeth, but my understanding is unfruitful. 1 Corinthians 14:21-22 - In the law it is written, With [men of] other tongues and other lips will I speak unto this people; and yet for all that will they not hear me, saith the Lord. 1 Corinthians 14:22 - Wherefore tongues are for a sign, not to them that believe, but to them that believe not: but prophesying [serveth] not for them that believe not, but for them which believe. (Well I believe in God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit.) 1 Timothy 4:1 - Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils; 1 Timothy 2:11-12 - Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection. 2 Thessalonians 2:9 - [Even him], whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders,

Hey my brother, many years ago, back in the 80's, I mocked tongues, mainly because my Baptist church mocked it. After a few yrs of being there, the Lord started leading my wife & I to ministries on T.V. that taught on tongues, plus we were making Christian friends outside our church, who spoke in tongues. We decided to go to GOD Himself to learn the truth about this. He began leading us to bks, CD's, etc. to learn more. In 91 my wife received the Baptism of the Holy Spirit and began speaking in tongues the same day. I received the Baptism several mths later, but 24 yrs later, I still cannot pray/speak in tongues. Since you are confused, or 'were' confused on this topic, just ask GOD to show you Truth! He will! Tongues is for ALL Christians! God Bless you!!!

is there a need to pray in english (in private) if you can speak in tongues? would the spirit's prayer be sufficient and cover all that's required

He states in the previous video that in the Greek/Hebrew, those verses are translated and the actual word "gift" is not found but rather manifestation ... speaking in tongues is a manifestation of the Spirit of God dwelling within you. Watch video two and see if that clears it up for ya :)

Although I consider myself a Christian, I've been unable to do this for over a year now. Every time I try, nothing happens. What's worse is that I don't really "feel" anything. When I go to church, I often see people pouring out emotions, and I just feel like I'm some kind of robot. Why is it that I feel no emotion or desire for anything? I always feel like there's something wrong with me deep down inside. There was a time years ago when my heart was broken and went into depression, but ever since I got better, I've always just been emotionless and peaceful ever since.

Ask Jesus to baptize with the fire of the Holy Spirit, ask him especially for that gift, talk from the heart, and you'll see ;)

Hey brother John, don't feel bad. I received the Baptism of the Holy Spirit in 92, and 24 yrs later, I still cannot pray in tongues. I've tried MANY times, but all that comes out is English. I've had hands laid on me many many times. I have NO idea why I cannot pray in tongues, but, I will also NOT give up. TONGUES are incredibly Valuable to a Christian, for many reasons. Most important, the devil has NO idea what you are saying. So, if you still can't pray in tongues my brother, DON'T give up! One day it will just Flow. That's what I'm Believing for myself also. God Bless you!

He says that you every christian can speak in tongues. But isn't this a contradiction with 1 Corinthians 12: 29-30?

I like looking at your video;s but I was told by my church and I wont mention what denomination , they said that speaking in tongues was for the unbelievers to show that God was with the early Christian Church and it was to be done away with along with other gifts mentioned in 1 Cor.13:8 - 11. It says In scripture that we walk by faith not by sight. Can anyone clear my mind on this matter, just in case my church is wrong but how can they be wrong if scripture contest to it. Regards Barry Bear , from N.S.W. Australia.

Hey brother Barry, I don't know if you're a Baptist, but that was the church I got saved in, in 84. They did NOT believe in or promote praying in tongues. They actually spoke against it, so for the first few yrs there, I gave it no thought. Over the next few yrs however, I started watching ministries on T.V., who spoke Highly of Tongues, and, meeting other Christians from other church's, who 'spoke/prayed in tongues', and I kept hearing it was for ALL Christians. That got me curious. I decided 'not' to just take my pastors word for it, but to go to GOD Himself and seek guidance on this issue. I soon found my church & pastors were wrong. My wife & I bought bks on the topic, CD's, etc.. We looked up every scripture we could find on 'tongues' and soon discovered that Tongues was for ALL Christians. My wife received the Baptism of the Holy Spirit in 91 and was speaking tongues the same day. When she would start praying in tongues, the anointing would come on her and she would start shaking. It was quite amazing. I'm not going to say your pastors are wrong, but I will say, DON'T just take their word for it. They are only 'men/women', and men and women can make mistakes. They can only offer 'their' interpretation of scriptures. Get before the Lord and ask HIM to show you. He will! God Bless!!!

Well, I am Baptist and there are many Baptists with a prayer language. (Let's not call people out and put all under one umberella. It would be the same as saying "All men are dogs") My advice is, to read your Bible, and ask God for crystal clear discernment. It's not the denomination it is the deliver of the word. if your fellowship (no matter what the denomination) is is not delivering the true Word of God then it is time to leave.

yeah but that situation wasnt you praying in tongues. tongues is a gift that many are given but not all. if i had it then i def would be using it.
