I love your tutorial Fiber Spider. I have crocheted with you each round. Enjoyed every minute of it. When we transitioned to the granny square stitch on round 12, I went ahead and counted and marked all the corners with a stitch marker so I could just keep crocheting and not have to stop and count. I checked it twice though before marking them. The round went quickly. Thank you so much Fiber Spider. This funky color afghan is for my granddaughter. She chose 4 colors. I changed colors using solid color yarns. Used what I had. It's what she wanted too so it all worked out. The next one I make will be like yours. 😁❤

Hi! 1st comment here! 4th project with you❤ I’m sure you’ve been told that you have been such a blessing to many. I’m grandma btw, and all my grands call me grandma. The youngest started calling me nana and quickly switched to grandma. So, this is my 4 th blanket this year. Somehow I am always so far behind and catch up right on time before each of granddaughters birthday. So this year I’ve done, lost souls granny, lost souls blanket ( what a challenge) filet heart ( I even after much stress graphed out her name HENLEY with a heart on each side). And now Virus meets granny. I do find it hard to follow other creators after following you. Your voice is very comforting to me. And you give very clear views of your project so that I can see and count your stitches. My paternal grandmother taught me bits and pieces of crocheting when I was a preteen. I was 1 off 88 grandchildren when she passed. Busy woman right! Lots of crocheting for her!. So starting in my 40s wasn’t as hard as me trying to teach my best friend😂 in our 40s. I just can’t figure out how to get her to hold more loosely. I just want to give you a shout out to let you know that I appreciate you so much and let you know that you have given me a love that was so shown to my family that my aunt gifted me my grandmothers crochet hooks. It feels so good to wrap my hand around something that she spent so much time with her hands wrapped around. Thanks for all the patience you give your fans. You’re an inspiration. I hope this reaches you, so you’ll know the difference you’ve made for my grands and myself. I don’t know if Just commenting means you’ll see it. I’m not tech savvy😂 But I love you and your company! Thank you

Thank you for working out this pattern. I'm saving the acorn idea. I come from the land of mamaws and grannies and my best story about that subject comes from my mother. When my oldest nephew was born Mom and the other grandmother banded together to 'get that thing out of that house before it eats the baby'. The thing was my brother's boa constrictor. Under considerable duress from the grandmothers the snake was rehomed. All was well. Until my nephew started to talk, which set off the War of the Grandmas. Neither lady in question wanted to be 'granny' because grannies are old and they were young hep-cats, y'know. Cool, with it, edgy. Each tried to convince the kid to call her mamaw (because that's more fun than 'granny', I guess?). Finally, by unsanctioned use of M&Ms, my mother became Mamaw and the other became 'granny' forevermore. I'm not sure the ladies in question ever spoke more than five words to each other afterwards.

I have to say I am really enjoying your tutorials. I am doing my very first virus blanket, I have been wanting to try it for ages and having tried a couple of other tutorials I have found yours to be the most easiest to follow, so thank you very much for your expertise and tutorials. I will most certainly be following you more going forward.

Dearest Fiber Spider, you can indeed add as many rows of granny stitches as you want- bearing in mind that you add 1 additional cluster with each row. Just as with the Virus meets Granny Shawl, each virus segment equals 5 granny clusters, so you need to end with a number of granny clusters divisible by 5. In other words, YOUR 6 rows add 5 clusters, 11 rows add 10 clusters, 16 rows add 15 clusters, etc. This will be necessary to resume the virus segments. This is a WONDERFUL adaptation of the shawl pattern. It's like making 2 shawls at the same tine attached to each other!! I tried on my own to come up with this but couldn't get past the 2nd row. Thank you ever so much for figuring it out. Love you bunches!!

I am a MeMaw. My grandmother was a Mammo. My husband’s grand was a GaGa. Btw. I love your videos. I have crocheted since I was old enough to write. I sew. I do embroidery. I do all the crafts they taught before women had a choice. I was raised to build and plumb houses. I became a biochemist, and worked a decade as such. Then I went back to school to become a RN. I never gave up the so called women’s crafts. I finally have seen a man pick them up and do well with it. taught my husband a lot of the so called men’s craft. He can’t crochet. It’s not because he won’t. He can’t. He sew a bit with a machine but he fears time period sewing like I do and have done for 35 years. It’s the same fear. I am so glad you aren’t afraid. Love ya. And yes I make changes and learn so much more.

Spider, thanks so much for this pattern. Even my ol’ arthritic hands can do it. I called my grand mothers Nana and grandmother Ruth. My sister is Grammy to 8 grand kids she shares with me, and I’m Grand Ninni. My sister couldn’t pronounce my name when she was young, and called me Ninni. All of my nieces call me Aunt Ninni, so Grand Ninni was a natural progression. However, when I introduced myself to the principal of the eldest kid’s school as Grand Ninni, and she asked if she should bow or something......I wanted to die I was so embarrassed. We had a good laugh.

Great pattern. Great videos. I am just starting the first granny row. I found it squares up with treble crochets in corners, then 3 DC, in the next sp and then continue with 3 sc until you get to the dip and do 2 sets of 3DC there, then 3 sc to next corner. I did a another afghan called Sophie's Universe that had complex corners and it switched from round to square and everywhere. She use that technique of combining stitches to reshape the afghan. I'll keep watching!!

I’m going to carry on with granny stitch for this blanket but my next I would like to try what I have asked about. x
@RitaMillerLA6 жыл бұрын
Another way to end the granny rounds would be 3dc in same space as beg cluster, hdc into top of beg ch-3 instead of ch2 (this creates the space same as the ch2 but now you're in the proper position (the middle of the space) to start the next round). Then for the next round, you just ch3, 2dc into the space created by the hdc, and continue on. You would end the round in that same space created by the hdc. That way you don't have to go backwards for the starting cluster.
