I think you don't really need to change the color space to non-color, it works fine as sRGB. And offcourse - thanks so much for this tutorial !

Nice, thanks. And, I agree, we need SEARCH within the ODB, particularly in Misc. A few iterations ago, maybe in 2.6x , we actually had it! But it was not carried forward for some reason. I asked for its return......crickets....... Note: At least for me, if the ODB window is open, it cancels out the F12 (render image) function.

Yeah, I would love a search. Also, if you CTRL + Z to undo. Blender will look like it is frozen until you close the live db window. Weird but I still love it haha.

Subbed :) I have a single question though, I do not see the Color Space field in my texture nodes. Is that something that changed in latest versions of Oct. Blender build or am I missing something? The Color Space option is gone in the later versions.

The "save As Octane DB" button works now (blender 2.91). I get the option to save it to LocalDB. No idea where this is kept, but it's local now. You can also just save it as a stand-alone file wherever you like.

In you octane prefs (Where you install add-ons) there is the path there. You can relink it to another folder of your choosing too.

I have sculpted a number of elements in 3D Coat, imported as .obj, and some receive the materails okay, while others stay the stark white material

Hi there, thank you for this video! I am having trouble though - when I import the LiveDB material it comes in to the node wrangler next to the standard "Universal Material". I have to unplug the Universal Material node from the Material Output, then proceed to guess how the LiveDB material might plug in to the Material Output. Do you have any ideas on how to turn off the universal material node coming in as default? Many thanks!

Click the node and "N" to bring up the side menu and there will be the option under "Properties"

Thanks for making this!! been needed this for so long. Does it work as having an octane live viewport window (like Vray does) so that I can pull it to my second screen and maximize the node editor area cuz it's really hard to edit the material nodes in the tiny splitted viewport when it becomes more complicated.. Yes, you know how to drag out a new window? Just hold shift when you drag a new window and it will pop out. Then you can move it to another screen.

Quick question, should you change on each texture gamma to 1 as well, sine you show us to turn off blender color correction and use octane camera 2.2 gamma to match viewport and render result?

No, you should not need to do that. Just on the HDRI.

I would say yes, however it is much easier to use in C4D currently. Way less jumping around for settings.

I sure hope so, but even if it is not forever, their pricing is awesome. You can pay $20 per month and be able to use the Blender, Cinema 4d, 3DS Max, Autocad, Houdini, and a ton more. I use the free version for tutorials here, but I use the paid version for Blender and Cinema 4D personal projects.

I believe that UDIM textures are supported in 2.82. This Octane build is made from 2.81, and 2.81 didn't support UDIM yet.

Yeah, in the camera tab select the denoise option and enable camera imager. Then under passes change from combined to beauty denoise.

Speed and it achieves photorealism with less effort way faster. The speed at which it renders glass, metal and volume are amazing too. Its free, give it a shot.

Hey man, your videos are great! I'm having trouble rendering out animation in octane, any chance of doing a video? When I render out my animations, it only renders the first frame over and over and over again, any ideas on what I'm doing wrong or solutions?

A better way to put it is that it's only rendering whatever I have in my viewport for however many frames, it's no cycling through the correct frames, technically I could render each frame myself by going through frame by frame and pressing render but this is obviously ridiculous

I double checked and mine are rendering fine. I'm not sure why yours isn't. Do you have the latest version? Feb 12 there was a newer version released.

A lot has changed since this release. There are Float, Alpha and image nodes now.

It actually doesn't work with Blender 4.0+ The textures mostly import as jet black.
