As David rounded out this study, he said, “Freedom is found in living out your purpose, living out the reason you were…” I wrote next what has been in me since I believed, “Living out the reason you were Born Again - to bring Glory and Honor to God in what we Think and Say and Do!” We are His Ambassadors now. We represent the Kingdom of God, bodily, willingly and with purpose. God continually bless you richly 🙏🏼♥️

Oh, such a great study again, guys, so deep and inspiring: thanks so much! Never realized how much richness was in this chapter of Galatians... BTW, I am also fully supportive of Cat Maaske's suggestion below: can you guys please also seriously consider doing a series on Romans? Or even better a journey through all of Paul's epistles? Now that would be a spiritual feast! Also, praying for a full and speedy recovery for David! 🙏🙏

Hi Ty and David I totally agree with your point that “going back” to circumcision is a form of paganism. Could the same be said for the other Jewish rituals, ceremonies and holiday festivals? For example, if I confess faith in Christ but decide to uphold and celebrate Jewish festivals like Yom Kippur etc, does my participation invalidate and negate what Christ has done for me? I guess what I’m asking is would Paul be just as offended if instead of circumcision I upheld Passover…or some other festival that pointed to Christ 🤔
@cwilson10002 жыл бұрын
I believe that David ashrick has missed the point of the analogy of hagar and Sarah when he asks TY ABOUT inclusion or exclusion... it's about there being 2 covenants the 1st covenant is of the law and the sacrificial system where as the second covenant is that it is finished work at the cross, Jesus is the ultimate and final sacrifice, the restoration , The propitiation, the end to the 1st covenant because the 1st covenant cannot save. So it is about throwing out the 1st covenant, it has nothing to do with people it has to do with the idea of earning your way to heaven and through righteous works and and embrace the 2nd covenant which is the furnished work of Jesus Christ.

Messiah's freedom table is a single table for all true believers in Messiah... The false believers want their own table, separate from Messiah, rejecting His freedom table, but they delude themselves thinking their table is Messiah's table, and want others to be so deluded as them... God, through Paul's letter, simply exposes the delusion...

You brothers continue to hold onto the old covenant you’re holding on by a little thread. It took some time for me to understand this concept but when I fully put away the old covenant and became IN Christ alone, letting go of that whole system completely… my life changed. Paul is not telling any of us to hold onto one thread of the old covenant, he is not afraid to say put it away it has faded it is gone! including the Sabbath Day and feast days, they are optional and voluntary and we judge no one for whichever day they worship on. Colossians 2:16. Everything we need for life and holiness is in Christ Jesus now. 13 We are not like Moses, who would put a veil over his face to prevent the Israelites from seeing the end of what was passing away. 14 But their minds were made dull, for to this day the same veil remains when the old covenant is read. IT HAS NOT been removed, because only IN CHRIST is it taken away. 15 Even to this day when Moses is read, a veil covers their hearts. 16 But whenever anyone turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away. 2: Corinthians 3:13-16

Hello Dr. Ez. I have another question. It is somehow clear what is the old covenant, but we only have one definition of the new covenant. One literal definition made by God in Jeremiah 31. Im not saying what we undestand about the writings of Paul about the new covenant, but rather the only definition we are given: 31 “Behold, the days are coming, says the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah- 32 not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt, My covenant which they broke, [h]though I was a husband to them, says the Lord. 33 But this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, says the Lord: I will put My law in their minds, and write it on their [i]hearts; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people. (Jer. 31: 31-33) God said that, in the new covenant, He will write His law. So by implication, in the new covenant there is a law, God´s law according to the reading. How do we interpret that passage about the new covenant and having no law?

@@hectorado Ezekiel 36:26 "A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh. And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them". The whole new Testament is evident of new commandments.

@@Dr.Ez.ANewLivingWay By new commandments you mean love your neighbor and love God?
@Dr.Ez.ANewLivingWay3 жыл бұрын
@@hectorado the Commandments of Jesus is much more than that! Matthew 5 beatitudes are commands of Jesus throughout the gospels you read and hear the commands of Jesus, which astounded the people never did they hear such things. He changed the law Hebrews 7:25. He was lord of the Sabbath. Thus He removed the 24 hr period and said come to me for your rest. Matt 11:28. Hebrews 4. It was a powerful paradigm shift, he moved heaven and earth and abolished the old Covenant. It is Extremely powerful what Jesus did.

@@Dr.Ez.ANewLivingWay Thank you for your time. Its kind of funny how much i agree with you yet disagree in some points. I have another question continuing with the ols covenant motive: It is clear thar we are save by grace in the new covenant, how were people saved in the old covenant?
@Dr.Ez.ANewLivingWay3 жыл бұрын
The whole context of chapter 4 is about which law was kicked out, it is not about people being kicked out. Are you afraid to admit that the Ten Commandments referred to as the bond woman was that which was kicked out? If the Bible says so and it is very clear. Why not be honest with the text? What are you holding onto, that which was kicked out? Let the word speak for itself without you adding to scripture. It speaks nothing of people being the problem but of the deciphering between two laws. Galatians 4:24 These two women serve as an illustration of God’s two covenants. The first woman, Hagar, represents Mount Sinai where people received the law that enslaved them. Galatians 4:26 But the other woman, Sarah, represents the heavenly Jerusalem. She is the free woman, and she is our mother. BOTH COVENANTS DEFINED Paul’s solution is to get rid of the Sinai laws. Because it causes those who keep it to persecute those who don’t. Solution: Galatians 4:30 But what do the Scriptures say about that? “Get rid of the slave and her son, for the son of the slave woman will not share the inheritance with the free woman’s son.” Get rid of the law from Sinai which enslaves us. Please be honest with the exegesis of text. Whether we like it or not speak truth! The Ten Commandments including the 4th no longer exists and is only for the unrighteous who need to be pointed to Christ. 1Tim 1:9 That’s the only function of the OC law from Sinai, is to act as a school master that points to Jesus. Gal 3:24
@Dr.Ez.ANewLivingWay3 жыл бұрын
The OC has passed away. If you hold onto the Sabbath “DAY” and not see the Principle of REST in Christ, you may as well circumcise yourself, because you are still under the Law, you cannot separate the Sabbath from the Old Covenant. “He has made us competent as ministers of a new covenant-NOT of the letter but of the Spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life. Now if the ministry that brought death, which was engraved in letters on stone, came with glory, so that the Israelites could not look steadily at the face of Moses because of its glory, transitory though it was, 2 Cor 3: 6,7

And it so happens that as Jesus promised us that He will write His law in our hearts and put it in our minds, He indeed did so. - Jer 31:31-34. He wrote it by His Spirit in our hearts, and the Spirit impresses this law in our minds.
@Dr.Ez.ANewLivingWay3 жыл бұрын
There are two laws. The law of Liberty and the law of the ministration of death from Sinai…. You must define the two. One is gone and the other lives on. You tend to confuse them. And seemingly preserve the law that has been made obsolete Hebrews 8:13. If you’re going to keep a Sabbath Day and make it obligatory, then you come under the law of the ministration of death. That’s where the sabbath was installed and is the seal of that particular covenant. But we are now under the new Covenant. It doesn’t sound like you really understand who the slave woman and her son is. It was the Law from Sinai and not the people that was to be kicked out. Your interpretation is not correct. Freedom is living in Christ, without the ministration of death over you…. Please don’t confuse the two laws. Christians live by the law of liberty, by the spirit of the law of liberty “Speak and act as those who are going to be judged by the law that gives freedom,” James 2:12.

I couldn't exactly articulate in my head what I felt was hermeanutically biblically off in this teaching but I came to comments to see if anyone else saw it too, what jumped out at me is they mentioned: Jesus and Paul were seeking to rescue Torah from a misunderstanding, which I think the point is, no one could ever keep the Torah , which is why Jesus fulfilled it, and gave us law of Liberty ,
@Dr.Ez.ANewLivingWay3 жыл бұрын
Are you saying that the Bible is lying? Gal 5: 16… It’s a very clear text. If you are led by the spirit you will express the fruit of the spirit when you do that you are declared righteous and you have NO NEED FOR THE LAW, that’s true! Understand the function of the law and who the law is for…. The Law is not for the righteous! 1 Tim 1:9. The spirit is for the righteous.
