Great job Ryan , had one this week . . We had to put a crew cab bulkhead in a 2025 transit custom . . And speed line the rear section ( spray on liner harder than fiberglass) . . If you remove the two earth connections by the o/,s tail light then the van won't recognise the key and the electronic door handles won't work ! ! . . Yes someone shut the rear doors . . ! ! But we got back in . . Not going to say how but vehicles are getting too complicated . . There's no need sometimes . . Its a van !

I really appreciate the time you put into these videos to give an explanation instead of just letting the algorithm take it away. 'Check in next week'. I've had this exact issue on my own service van and couldn't understand why. Parts Plus was no help at all, though there is a new young lad that's started that takes more care in his work. Starting to head back there more often. (Sometimes I have to, I work out of a Ranger now!)

I am an old fashioned car man... you sir are a whole new world of expertise --great to watch and a clever logical chap. I have an OBD for my wifes Fiat and my Ford RS but the most i have done so far is change the service duration and had a play with what i felt would not bugger up the cars....

OMG the car industry is just ripping us off I remember transit being great vans but now wet belts and now twin wiper motors what next the man in the street is buggered great video Ryan as usual but if your a fleet usuer what van do you lease

Great work.. I find it crazy how over complicated they have made simple functions over the years resulting in simple things becoming real headaches, back in the day it would be just a simple bar connecting both wipers under the scuttle and much more reliable.

Had the same issue with a transit custom, working on full speed but no intermittent or low speed Removed the plug to find one of the pins corroded off the motor into the plug. Had gotten a repair kit for the plug (after market) & a OEM motor but still the same, was told by fords it'll need programing to work. no mention of needing a pair at all Thanks to your vid i know for next time if i come across this issue 👌🏽

Great video. But isnt it a pity that something as simple as front wipers has come so bloody complicated for the ordinary man who likes to work on his own vehicles. 😮

Hi Jcar, Hgs data is what i use. You will find mostly all schematics that you need aslong as you are not working on anything fancy like mclaren etc

Any idea why it needs them done in pairs Ryan? Does it do something to the slave motor after it's plugged in for the first time? 🤔🤔
@mrautoservices735416 күн бұрын
Hi this is a email i got from a helpful parts advisor The Ford parts catalogue has had a note about wiper motors needing to be match pairs by the last 2 letters of the engineering number for a good few years now….
@MrByootox16 күн бұрын
It's a shame there isn't an option to simply program /calibrate the slave to the new master eh.

Excellent video real world diagnostic, but as the video demonstrates end user in the parts supply chain. Ford Parts Plus l feel have let you down with lack of tech knowledge on this item. Unfortunate for you this time, but a parts source consideration for the future.

Hi ! it's not your fault ! you should have known that you had to change the 2 engines at the same time, I think it was rather good to have tried to repair it for less money and less work . Hello from France .
@TheAndythomnz18 күн бұрын
Makes you wonder why they even sell them separately if they need replacing together. Does anyone know the technical reason why you can't mix and match them? Is it to do with different revisions of each part being incompatible? Could it somehow be programmed to work? Seems like poor design either way
@mrautoservices735418 күн бұрын
Think its more to do with mismatch sw/hd numbers but to be honest i am unsure on this one

This all well and good( baring expense) when new and parts are available, but five years down the road and a van will be getting written off because a washer / wiper stops working, engineered obsolescence 🤬😡
@tas.es917 күн бұрын
Idk. I have replaced only one of them and everything worked fine.
@mrautoservices735417 күн бұрын
what year was it bud ? The amount of people i have now spoken to about this they all say pairs only Its strange when i fitted just the drivers side it came up with configuration faults. As soon as i fitted the two motors from quickco it was fine strange fords 🤣
@simonbriggs633217 күн бұрын
@@mrautoservices7354 The parts catalogue specially says that replacement wiper motors need to have matching suffix’s ie last 2 letters of the engineering number - you parts plus advisor will have been able to see this info but failed to tell you. You don’t necessarily need to replace them in pairs as long as you can find the correct suffix/supersession level in stock somewhere
@tas.es917 күн бұрын
@ 2018-today. I work at a dealer so I have done it more than once. Just checked microcat and yes:”When replacing one side, other side should be replaced with the same suffix/level.

this would have got me you'd think any slave would work with any master .... parts plus should have that on thier screen very poor .... they must have come across it before unless thier own service department have never changed one which i doubt .... great vid btw

@samfriend830519 күн бұрын
You have to replace both as they are synchronised parts. Unless you can get another motor but it has to have the same last digit on the part number.
@aidie2619 күн бұрын
Both motors have to be replaced as they only work in pairs. So the driver's side controls the passenger side. I ask the question why make things so complicated these days, everything got to be controlled by computers. He did explain in the video all about this fact and it was a week later when he solved it due to lack of information from his supplier.
