The Dept is between a rock and a hard place on this one. They petitioned the court to take jurisdiction of the 2 boys and to remove them from mom and place with dad. (They really didn’t have a choice based on mom’s drug use/arrests). The dept knew at that time there was no divorce filing or custody order and they took dad at his word that he would take care of filing those papers. He didn’t and the court/dept really has no recourse other than to file for termination of parental rights of both parents based on length of case and failure of both parents to provide permanency for these boys. That would leave 2 teenage boys in the foster care system where they are also unlikely to find permanency and stability. It’s a no win situation for these kids. If mom is clean and housing is the only issue preventing reunification, what is the solution?? She’s working for minimum wage and will have to support herself and 2 teenage boys. How on earth would that even be possible???

I absolutely agree about Brooks just getting up & walking around court…it’s rude just like he is and Judge Sal’s never says anything to him no matter what he says or does…she just kinda shakes her head and laughs as she did this time. He does what he wants. He should have already been retired. Judge shouldn’t condone this type of behavior & definitely should not let it go & laugh at him. He’s arrogant & condescending & rude.

That guy claims to be an attorney, but he doesn’t understand why this man won’t sign divorce papers that he’s not being allowed to read? She wants him to sign divorce papers that say she gets custody of those kids when she can’t even take care of them. They don’t understand why he wouldn’t sign those? I don’t care if she’s got five months sober, five months is not long enough. Those kids are teenagers . She should’ve been sober for as long as it’s been since the day the first one was born, she wasn’t and as a result, she’s got a daughter who’s pregnant and willing to live with a man who abuses her because it’s better than living with her mother. She’s perpetuating the cycle, and all three of these kids are already at a life deficit BECAUSE OF HER! If they ever give those kids back to her, will be watching these hearings in the future, but those kids will be fighting for their own children. This cycle is never gonna end if they don’t get those kids away from their mother. Every one of these people saying “these boys want to be with their mother” is an idiot. Those boys don’t want to be with their mother, they want to be with their friends. However, they were getting in trouble with those same friends and therefore they should not be accommodated on that. I’m sorry, but there’s a reason why adults make decisions for children. It’s because children aren’t experienced enough to make the right ones sometimes.

The parents need parenting classes! Mother seems manipulative, Dad seems like he's trying and understands teens but doesn't know how to handle them. They really need to stay with Grandpa and Dad. The boys lawyer is young and has no clue. Those boys want back with their Mom so they can have more freedom and do what they want.

Dad needs to get these kids into extra curricular activities after school. They do have league teams. These kids need to make friends where they’re living. Someone needs to get out of these kids ears by letting them think they can come back and live with their Mom. She doesn’t have a home for them to come back too.

I wholeheartedly disagree with the OP statement that she is no-show for drug test because she’s working. She’s not asking for them to be rescheduled because she’s working, and providing a schedule that proves that, she’s just not showing up. At the same time, she’s not showing up for her NA or AA meetings. That is highly suspect and looks very suspicious. Which wouldn’t surprise me if she was not sober. I don’t believe she has five months, a job and she’s got a life together. She has no money in savings, but when she was an active coke addict and had no job, she always found money to pay for drugs. So now that she’s supposedly not buying drugs, what is she doing with her money? I’m not buying what she’s selling.

I’m a foster mom, so I can be biased, but I’m not sure a divorce would be better, it just mean another court procedure that will take time and drags on. What I don’t like is that we have no idea about the paternal grandfather. He was « approved » and that’s it. If I recall earlier proceeding, the father was supposed to live there. He’s obviously not. How is this stepping up to park them at your fathers, and living your life with you new gf and her kids? So, ok they have a roof and food, but they are not happy. I would agree with mister Brooks, maybe this is a case where they would have been better served being put in a foster home. But I guess, they might be too old and would have end up in a group home, which would have been worst. So sad, how this is in the best interest of those kids?

Also on not doing well in math because his last school was more advanced, I don't buy it. Math is a subject that continuously expands while making constant use of previous topics. You don't really go backwards in math. The exception would be specialty math subjects, like geometry or trigonometry. There are gaps in the math pathway where you after learning those, you may go through a semester or 4 where you make little use, then it becomes necessary again in calculus and beyond. But you don't go from algebra back to pre-algebra and struggle. "Why don't you get your homework done?" "Umm, I forget" Glad my kid isn't the only one with such bad short term memory specific to things they don't want to do...I swear, it's an epidemic with minors...😂

I’m sorry sometimes you have to make the hard decisions for the kids and what’s best for them. Someone must be in these kids ears leading them to believe they can come back to their familiar area to live. Although they have no home to live in where they’re familiar with. If these kids are doing okay and going to school, you leave them where they’re at for the time being. Kids don’t run the show even if that’s what they’ve been use to doing with their Mom.

I’m sorry, but this mother, trying to make the father look like a bad parent, is comical. She lost her kids because she’s a cocaine addict and didn’t choose her kids over her cocaine for several months, and even that is questionable. So she can bitch and moan all she wants about the father, but he still leaps and bounds above her as a parent. She makes it sound like she’s a victim because she can’t find housing because of her past, her criminal criminal record, and her credit. All of which are her own fault. So she’s not a victim of anything except herself. Unfortunately, that intern makes the kids victims of her too. So she can complain all she wants about the father, not meeting her halfway or not filing his divorce papers, what he’s not doing is putting his children’s lives in danger, she was and possibly still would. She makes it sound like being sober for five months earns her an award. How long has she had kids? How long has her son been medically frail? Five months is nothing and she has a lot more to prove. If there is any hope of those kids not ending up exactly like their mother, they will not give her custody of them. Perhaps visitation, but not custody. Her visitation should also have to be out of Adriene because she’s already proven she gets into trouble there and so do her kids
