Orange and blue are my granddaughters favorite colour. She would love that combination! She has asked me to make her a quilt using those colors. I wasn’t sure about it, but seeing the skein, I think she’s on to something. Thank you, Kate.

Gosh... you are sooo clever. And its not at all boring. On the contrary, I wished you'd just carry on telling us all your stories whilst spinning and all.the other niddy noddy things you do... i could go on for hours like this with you

I love your videos Kate! I hope you're enjoying your time off as much as I'm enjoying watching your older videos. They're timeless & I like sitting doing my own thing with you while you do your thing. Like having a visit with a friend. 😊 I would add though, that when I'm plying 2 bobbins & get to the end of 1, I just wrap the yarn on the leftover bobbin aroung my hand, similar to how you did it here, but a little bit different, & continue plying so I never have any waste yarn! Anyway, everyone does things differently, that's why it's fun to see how someone else does it. Thanks for all you do!

I didn’t realise there was so much involved with spinning. One of my mums friends lived on a farm and she used to keep a huge basket full off freshly shorn wool. I loved spinning it, I was always left with dirty but beautiful soft hands from the lanolin.

Hello Kate from Nebraska. I just found one of your older videos. From 4 years ago and thought I'd take a break from cleaning the kitchen and watch it. Then it dawned on me, here I am, sitting drinking a Fentimans ginger beer, watching you spin and wishing I was there visiting you. BTW you have made me a Fentimans fan!! I do have to go to a special store to get it here in the states. But I don't mind the effort or price. I really like the " Curious Cola" it has a floral taste!!. Yum Thank you for all you do and share. Big Hugs, Debbie Nightengale

I never knew how much work went into a skein of yarn, amazing. I will do some more research. Thanks for introducing me to yarn making. You are the best.......

Thank you! I’ve been spinning for 40 years and have never seen a center pull ball done this way. A friendly face, and learned something too! Good day!

Oh, Kate... Thank you so much... I have just spent a wonderful evening knitting a gift for one of my children while sitting with you as you carded, spun and plied some beautiful yarn. That blue and orange may not be your favourite, but I found it breathtaking. It was well over 100 degrees Fahrenheit here today in southern Georgia, USA - over a year after you made these videos housebound by snow and the weather - but I didn't even feel the heat as I was comfortable in your welcoming home and in your kind and gentle company. I appreciate so much your willingness to share yourself and your creativity and work in such a way that someone like me can find a gentle and quiet place of solace at the end of what has been a most troublesome week. Thank you again.

Very nice. Most people don't realize all the steps / time that goes into making the yarn nor the time and talent it takes for a finished piece. It has to be a skill you love doing because of the time invested.

Gorgeous, I am a complete novice with wool, I can knit a little but had no idea how different plys were put together. The whole spinning thing is a revelation to me Kate, thank you so much I’ve been mesmerised by this 😘

Orange and blue are complementary colours. When you mix two complementary colours (for example, with paint), they neutralize each other, so that may be why you thought it looked a little brownish from a distance.

How Lovely.... In all my years of spinning i have never seen that way of winding onto your hand and then plying from both ends. how fabulous to be able to use up all the yarn with no singles left. I am going to give it a go tomorrow with some alpaca. thanks for sharing all your skills. love the colours.

Gosh, that's so lovely. I'm not a pink and green girl, I always seen to be pulled by all shades of blue. My favorite is any shade of oceany sorta blue. But seeing your finished product.....ooohhh.....it's so luscious.

What glorious colors, my favorite colors are punk and green. I rec egg ntly got a very nice antique spinning wheel. The lady selling it had just lately stopped spinning and just wanted it out of her house so I got it for just 40.00. Not to start studying up on spinning. Your vlogs are very helpful. Thanks.

Hi Kate, ... and again such a beautiful video. I just came home from a very busy workday and watching your video. Pure relaxation. Blue and orange fit nicely together, although Blue is not my favorite. For you, there is certainly no better thing to do in this weather than to work with wool or fabric. Certainly much better than cleaning or doing other unloved work in the household. I wish you a nice weekend .... and at some point he must come, the spring. Let's exercise patience. Greetings from Claudia from Germany

HOWDY 💜🇺🇸🙋♀️ That was definitely a first time for me to see how that is done. I usually just buy what I need from the yarn store. Great thank you. I am in the process of weaving now. My husband made me a loom. I now have even a greater respect for the craft. Signing off Scott's wife Vickie

Wow! I love the orange and blue. I wouldn't have guessed how lovely the combination would be. And the pink & green as well. Snow is beginning to melt here too. But only just beginning.... Snowed a bit more today but it didn't amount to anything. So I know well that feeling of wanting to be out in the garden, or in my case, the yard; but that won't happen for a while yet. And then it will take a while more before mud season is done. Some time in late April it should be close to possible to do yard things. Our official 'safe to plant in the garden' date is June 1. Your flowers in the background are beautiful. Hope your knee is on the mend.

So where did you learn this interesting way to hold yarn for plying? I have been spinning in the US for many years so I assume this is an innovation from the UK or Europe?
