Part one 2000 GMC Sierra 1500 Dash Renewal & Double Din Radio modification and Installation

Hi. Thanks for the video. I have that same model truck replacing my dash pad and decided to remove and paint my interior panels. Also decided to do my headliner as well. It was sagging. I then decided to upgrade my radio and speakers. I was giving an Q-Bomb 12" subs for a 2009 Dodge Ram 1500. Really dont fit my Chevy but i will make it work. I dont use my back seats anyway. You were very helpful. Kenwood 2din you have an new home. I brought the Wire kits RAP-GM-4001. and you will need an GM-6 or BAA4 Antenna Adopter.

The radio on my truck is like a demo one they used at walmart so it displays all that stuff😂

they all do that, you can go into the settings and turn off demo mode.

A metra harness adapter would be a better idea instead of splicing into the factory harness, keeps you from potentially damaging any of the wires in the factory harness. It’s like $5, and as a bonus you can wire the whole thing on the bench using a pinout, and connect and secure wires with solder and heat shrink. I like what you did with modifying the bezel, how’s the job holding up after a few years on?

My dumb self went to walmart and got a dremel and sanding sponges. Ill be adjusting the plastic for a good fit. Guess what I forgot? Electrical tape and wire strippers to actually install the radio itself .-. Stores are closed today since its thanksgiving. Cant go out tomorrow because it will be black friday. I have to wait until Saturday. Update: So I was able to get it done after a month of fighting with the radio. I didn't measure properly and my radio wasnt wide enough. Got it settled properly. All was well. Key word *was* Guess when my dumb ass is doing this Thanksgiving? Starting again with another 00 GMC Sierra because mine got totaled by my idiot uncle. Gotta get another radio too. Insurance company wont let me take mine because it "affects the value". Fun. Well, this time I'm going to update the speakers and put in subwoofers. I'm not messing around this time!

This explains why you can't buy a double din conversion kit (I have looked). The factory unit is Din and 1/2. You can just buy a conversion kit that creates a little storage space below the receiver and install a single din receiver. They make them with video screens that retract into the receiver. You can buy a new bezel for double din receivers but they cost around 150 dollars.

@@morbjrn5265 You can find a kit on Ebay or Amazon for 200 that contains a wiring harness, new bezel, double din bracket, and antenna conversion. You can also buy a used bezel and buy the double din bracket for 20 bucks.

The wiring was not done correctly. Tye ignition wire is probably hooked up to the constant 12volt wire instead of the ignition wire. Not sure what color the wire is. Do some research on it.
