I think it's sad that so many comments seem to be interpreting the cloud as like toxic or mentally ill or whatever, like, he isn't doing something bad, he's creating babies for the crocodile families etc; someone has to do it, and the fact that he's able to delight in them even though they aren't traditionally soft and cute is lovely. Sometimes the road less walked is difficult, but it doesn't make it any less wonderful for this stork to complete a family, in this example. I am also reading too far into this, but like, I feel like immediately jumping to toxic etc is a shame. Sometimes in life things are just hard. And if you are seeing yourself in the cloud, feeling different or mentally ill, you needn't write it off as a bad thing, because again the thing he is doing is very good and necessary is what I want to say, I guess. (Also I don't see what's wrong with him getting upset when his buddy seems to be leaving, like damn, he didn't lash out at anyone or try to force the stork to come back, people/clouds can have feelings without it being toxic).

I cried reading this interpretation; I really love this animation for EXACTLY this reason. Life isn't always sunshine and rainbows; SOMEONE is doing the dreary and painful work that no one else wants to do because, it HAS to be done; so, to be accommodated and loved unconditionally through the process of doing that work is so, so important; it's also a breath of fresh air to see that in interpretive media, and to see it being interpreted the way it was meant to be. My interpretation of this is that some people, even with good hearts, have problems that makes it hard for some to love or appreciate them. The storm cloud makes the babies for dangerous animals and the stork gets hurt helping him and it’s difficult for him. The storm cloud doesn’t take the stork for granted and clearly loves and cares about him, which to the stork makes it all worth while despite how hard it is. When the cloud thinks the stork left him it’s heartbreaking to him and he starts crying, but when he comes back he has nothing but joy to see his friend again and the stork, despite how much he got hurt helping the storm cloud, knew it wasn’t ever his fault or intent and won’t abandon his friend. It’s really beautiful honestly.

When I was younger, I thought the dark cloud was being selfish and thoughtless. But after a few years I realize this can be a metaphor for someone suffering or going through a hard time. They are more difficult to love, but a loyal friend never gives up on them, instead encourages them and learns how to uplift them. In time, the dark cloud becomes a happy cloud :)

i vividly remember watching this in therapy when i was in kindergarten or first grade. i had some emotional issues that made it hard for me to make friends at the time, and identified a lot with the cloud. its so refreshing to see a character like the cloud be empathetic and not vilified. of course, as a kid, i wanted to make nice thoughts as opposed to scary ones, but i didn’t know how to. of course the moral of the story isn’t “make everyone around you accommodate your needs” but this short really helped me identify the problems with my behavior at a young age. it was a great step in the right direction to learn how to manage my emotions and i’m forever grateful for its existence! :)

Its not that their friendship was toxic but its just that they know that it was their task to deliver offsprings for dangerous creatures. The stork doesn't hate his friends but is just tired and trying to find a way to handle his task without injuries. The stork doesn't mind how dangerous the offsprings he's gonna deliver since we can see him still coming back to deliver, since like all the storks, he loves his job of helping creatures build their families especially that his was to help unusual ones which makes his role even more special

Many of the dangerous babies were cute, but were dangerous, like the baby mountain goat. The stork routinely gets injured, yet he still shows up to pick up and deliver his babies. His job was rougher, and his cloud was so happy and busy creating his babies, he didn't think about protecting his delivery stork until the stork became fed up and got protection for himself. We need to remember to protect and replenish ourselves so we can keep handling our tough days.

No, he handed a spiked baby to his delivery stork, the babies couldn't hurt him in his a cloud. He can't change the fact his stork friend is vulnerable where he is not, but he could be prepared for that. The stork had to engineer a way to protect himself, because the Cloud provided him no protective gear.@@emilyjohn2034 It is not that the babies are dangerous, but the stork well-being was not being considered until he was injured, instead of working out a system to reduce risk and harm toward the stork beforehand. Life is unpredictable but with a little planning we can shield our self against the slings and arrows of fate, but the baby electric eel still zapped us so you can't win them all.

This isn't toxic at all to be a storm cloud they are very cheery and even huggeed the stork when it came back from it's porcupine delivery and has a sad look on their face. It cares about it's stork they just make all the exotic animals. In the end the cloud was upset because their stork went to a different cloud but that soon turned to sadness when their stork was given a package,their stork wasn't leaving but they didn't know that. What I got from this is a friendship can work with the right gear.👀👀

At 3:08 does anyone else find this sad? I think its sad because he is afraid of losing the only thing that cares abour him.

😁 I’ve always loved this Pixar short- it might even be my favorite one! The animation, music, characters, and storyline are fantastic! 🤔 That being said, a couple of things just occurred to me: 1) since the clouds create baby animals, were all the storks in the short grown up babies made by the cloud-beings and did they go back to their respective makers? That would deepen the relationship between the storks and the clouds. 2) WHY IS THERE ONLY ONE STORM CLOUD (canonically speaking- obviously the story focused on this cloud and his stork carrier). 3) If the cloud-beings are impervious to getting hurt by the animals they create, why don’t they use smaller cloud-beings that are lower down to transport the animal babies? Or even make sentient fog-beings that do that on the ground? Yes, I realize this is unnecessarily over-analyzing a cartoon but I still find them to be interesting thoughts?

Que filme curto bonitinho! Eu nunca tinha parado para pensar que, além de levar o bebê difícil, a entrega em si com certeza não era fácil para esse pássaro. Afinal, se os bebês eram assim, imagine as famílias, comunidades ou grupos onde ele entregava 😅😌
